  1. Cities: Skyline is out to satisfy where SimCity couldn't

That was PR nonsense from the Sim City (2013) team. You and I both know how that backfired on them. You should never lie to your customers. Yeah. I never use the cloud idea very much. I have a couple of files on Dropbox but that's it. For the cloud to compute it would have to be programmable, and that opens a gas regulator full of worms. Actually cloud computing is a reality and have been for a long time. You are thinking about cloud storage. Cloud computing example are : most of the voice command on your smartphone (google now, Sirie....) Your voice prompt are actually sent to servers and process there. In the gaming industry ps4 playstation now is the best example of cloud gaming. The games run on sony's servers and the video is streamed to your console. Another well know example is google docs(now part of google drive) And there are many other examples
  2. Maxis to RPS: SimCity servers 'not necessary'

Actually I did. I have a small lcd screen on my keyboard that show me the bandwidth i use at all time. I was using it a lot when i was loading /playing sim city cause i could know right away if i will be able to load my city. If the load will be successful the download was going up to 320kb/s. But if the load was unsuccessful the download was never reaching more than 10kb/s. I was also looking at the bar while playing because im a programmer and i know that the kind of explanation EA was giving (shared calculation with the servers) would used some chunk of bandwidth all the time. It wasn't the case. My network was only used a some time here and there. After that I decided to investigate more. Found the North American East Server 1 IP (This is the one i used). Check on my firewall the number of data that was actually transfer with this ip. 7.6MB in 11.4MB out for 6 hours of game play and lots of load/unload of the game. So no there is no calculation done on the server.
  3. Share Your Cities

Was a bit disappointed... I was one of the few sc4 fans that was a bit excited about this sim city. I knew I would get tired of it faster than sc4. But after 45 minutes playing I almost had my map fill. Even with the full game the only thing I would still have to do is upgrading my civic building and hoping for some new building to start to appear.
  4. Beta

You should have no problem as long as you pre-ordered before the cutoff date. I got my key that way as well. so u got the key already? for the beta2? Yeah, had to ask a CSR via chat to get it though. Didn't get an e-mail yet. Your lucky I had the same idea but this is what i get on CSR : Thank you for contacting EAPlease wait while we connect you to the next available advisor.Your approximate wait time is between 250 - 255 minutes.
  5. Beta

I havent got mine yet and I pre-order the game.... I will also ask for a refund if i dont get it.
  6. Is the new SimCity game a downgrade from SimCity 4?

I have very mixed feeling about the game. I agree with what most people here say. That its a downgrade from simcity 4 and that it should be called sims city. But i still pre-order the game. I will probably play it for a few hours than be disapointed like most game EA did in the last years. But somehow the new features even if they dont make up for all the flaws made me want to play the game... Its probably the last chance I give to EA. They did loose a part of the game market in the last years. They should recall that they should listen what their custumers want not dictate to them what they want. Its a bit like if MCdonalds stop doing the bicmac and tell us that from now on we all love the mcfish. Anyway Ill see if I like the game or not. But it is a downgrade from simcity 4 their is no question about that.
  7. any news? Is it out yet?
  8. Ground Lightrail MOD - support

Im triying to use the glr mod but after installing it I can't use it. I mean the cursor stay red when i try to put any glr piece in my cities. I have the last NAM installed and also Nam essential. Thanks for any help
  9. Olympic Stadium Montreal

It really cost 1.6 billion canadian and this time the canadian money worth the same thing as U.S money. They used smokers taxes to pay it! Thats a good idea since i always tought it looked like a big ashtray!!! And the tower is the highest inclined tower in the world.
