  1. Hello All, After re cooperating from a previous mistake on my city, i decided to start again a few days back, this time I exceeded my expectations by a long shot. My suburb was producing around 5000 profit each month, very few houses were unemployed or abandoned, i had an avenue full of commercial shops and i had surrounding industrial cities connected to the region. In the suburb, all my needs are cared for, I have well educated sims twinned with health, police and fire coverage. HT Demand has brought in its reward in my industrial town's, but I feel as if somewhere along the way, I have done something wrong. Going back to my suburb, i find out im now breaking even on profit, gradually slipping over and under my budget. There are noticably, more pockets of unemployment but only just. Strangest thing is however, in one of the four industrial cities i have in my region, HT demand does not exist. If anyone could give me a push in the direction I should go to rectify this, I'd be really grateful. Thank you. EDIT*: Also, I unlocked the main library, but I placed it in the wrong place in my city. I bulldozed the original but now i can't build a new one, the reward is locked and displays the 'how to unlock' message.
  2. Ran into a 'snag' with demand.

Hello Nonny Moose, first of all thank you for your informative response. Secondly, yes my suburb is pretty old. Its around 47 years old with the majority of citizens in the 51-60 age gap. I have surrounding industrial and smaller suburbs, with partial low level commerical zones for suburban areas. If what your saying will help, will re creating old neighbourhoods reset the resident's age to young?
  3. Okay, ever since I reinstalled my copy of SC4 after multiple complications with my previous city (I wanted to start totally fresh) I have had recurring problems manifesting from 1x1 residential zones not building into houses. I have made sure that electricity is connected to the houses, and their is no water icon above the house, nor is their one for a road/street etc. I have made sure the sims have D-I jobs to start off with with good connections but nothing is happening, the zones just sit there and do nothing. Everything else builds up fine, the residential zones do not. Im getting really fed up with this, as there was no problem before i reinstalled. Im even considering uninstalling the game completely, but i don't want to do that. If anyone can lend me some help, I would be really grateful. Thankyou.
  4. Residential zones are not building up.

Heres a more in depth explanation of why im so frustrated with this... Basically, before I reinstalled I had a whole medium sized city with around 30 thousand people living in 1x1 houses, it was a suburb. Following confusion from unemployment rates and my budget not exceeding well I decided to reinstall and start again. Now, I can't build 1x1 lots whatsoever, the game will only build 2x1 lots which I do not want in my suburb.
  5. Residential zones are not building up.

Moose, i havent had any BAT's at all, apart from NAM and my 1x1 blocks of R grew absolutely fine. The reason why i want 1x1 blocks is because im trying to make a suburb but i dont want to use a 2x1 grid of resi houses.
  6. Residential zones are not building up.

Really?! :S they built up fine before i reinstalled :/
  7. Worried About Exe. Files(Dangerous)

Simtropolis, SC4Devotion and all other popular websites mentioned shouldn't pose a viable threat to your laptop. Just dont go to the official site that EA set up, after they abandoned ship on this hallmark game the download site was allowed to run rampant -- and host viruses.
  8. Making Money The Easy Way

dude thankyou SO MUCH for this incredible guide! Before I found this gem I was struggling so hard to make my city function. I plopped down lots as if they were turds down a toilet, but your suburb really had a click in my creativity. My new city is now bustling very well and even has a HTI complex in it! One question only comes to mind here, but what do you do with the residents living on the other side of your workspace? Do you expand to other cities and build there? Once again, thankyou!

  10. Hey there, ive been a fan of SC4 for a long time now, it is a very complex game to fully understand for newcomers. But i feel as if ive played it for a well enough time to learn it, but ive never been able to get my city into a full metropolis. No matter what i do, there is always a 'wall' i hit when making my cities. Sooner or later ill place fire stations and police stations, which have no problem. But then i build clinics and schools and im bombarded with them striking. Its about this time where im struggling with the budget, for example. My monthly budget could be $4,351 and my expenses would be $4,321 so im not making a massive amount of profit, and it doesnt help if health and education are on strike, and even if i help its still not enough, to some this may seem as if im rushing too far, but ive learnt from online guides, watched videos, etc on what to do. Still i can never be fully on top. Its got to the point where im about ready to cut corners and cheat. But i dont want to do that as it ruins the game. Could anyone give me some advice?
  11. I have heard around the forums of a way where you can create your very own region, without needing to go in to SC4, create one, then reconcile the next neighbourhood, etc etc. Is there any way i can design my own region with ease?
