  1. Going back to SC4. I will check in every so often to see if Cities xl has improved but there is a long way to go. Citiesxl is way too restrictive and doesn't want any modding in their solo mode which is at best confusing since it only stimulates more people to play the game. No public transportation and most of all M/c wants more money every month to play a game that I should have received when I purchased the original game pack. And requiring a user to go through their servers each time they want to play THEIR game, hmmmmmmmmmmm.
  2. This morning I tried to play the game for a bit and after logging in, the program got the new update and began to install it. After the install, the program got the Vista message "CitiesXL is not responding". It then aborted, and would'nt allow me to get into the solo mode to play it. I re-booted but got the same message. Cannot play it now. Thank you. I was always worried about this since I had to "logon" and go through their servers before I could get to the solo mode to play. What happens when MC goes out of business or their servers go down. Can not play again?? This is too much.

    My issue, as I found out later, was due to the installation of a mod. I read your other post and am pleased that M/C is addressing the problem of allowing mods in solo so I thank you for your response. ps. still don't like having to logon each time i play or having to disconnect my dsl to play though.

    I can see M/C doing this for the PO portion of the game but not the solo mode. Simcity4 creators seemed to appreciate the input from the public and were not threatened by it. Too bad M/C is so paranoid. We were all expecting more from M/C. I'm ashamed of myself for buying the program and I hope others re-consider their future purchase.     Does anyone know if it possible to run the game in solo mode without logging in to m/c servers? Tried other .exe programs in the citiesxl directory but no luck. Gotta be a way.

  7. I've downloaded several "apartment, hotel, condo" lots and have run into a problem that I cannot figure out. My city now has 75,000 people. But when I place one of these buildings down on my city it only lasts for about a month before all the people leave the building and it becomes abandoned. Am I doing something wrong or should they only be placed when your population reaches a certain level?? (That's where my thinking ends) Thanks for your help. BTY - This website has renewed my interest in Simcity Rush Hour. Great site and it deserves our support.

    Thanks for the info. So if I let the dilapidated apartments stay, they may come around eventually???
