The title of this one, seems to be interesting. well it is. All about Eyecandy photos I guess... Hope to see more. Love your downtown setting. Not too tall, that's why I love it.

No brooklyn is not a city, i believe it is a borough, so it will obviously be part of NYC. That is best example, of one area being part of another, because well, it really is a "district" of new york. Those cities in the outskirts I believe, if they are part of LA.. hmmm. Anaheim, Los Angeles, CA? just like Brooklyn, New York City, NY? Well, bad example maybe. Because I don't believe that Anaheim, has the same mayor as Los Angeles, and Anaheim has its own City Hall. Its just a map, its just a map that shows the area around Los Angeles. But if those cities around are part of LA, why just don't they call themselves as Los Angeles. A County is different from a City. And here we're talking about Los Angeles, the City. "City of Angels?" Let's say that a city around LA is a suburban city.. Does it mean that it is a part of the city of LA? or it is LA? no, it has its own mayor, councilor, whatever, blah blah blah. It has its own budget, blah blah blah. Sometimes, it even has sister cities of its own. The area around Los Angeles, is not Los Angeles. Otherwise, why not call the whole SoCal ... LA. Anyway, that is just a rambling opinion from me. But anyway, I believe that Los Angeles is just Los Angeles, and let's say Pasadena, is Pasadena, not LA / nor a part of LA. maybe LA County, but not LA. Peace.. Don't hate me. again. haha.

masochist: Thanks, for that info. I'd look into it. Thanks again.

Whoa! THIS IS WAR! haha.

Well, Its approximately 26 miles southeast of Los Angeles. Is Anaheim a suburb of Los Angeles? No, Anaheim is located in Orange County. Orange County, California was formally organized as a political entity separate from the County of Los Angeles in 1889. http://www.anaheimoc.org/faq/faq.asp
-
Oh no, haven't heard of those extensions. Well, yea a good transportation system is a must for an internationally known city. New York, has a pretty good one. AND NO!!! JDRCRASH! ANAHEIM IS NOT A SUBURB OF LOS ANGELES. EVERYONE KNOWS IT! haha, peace brother. LONG LIVE ANAHEIM! -- not a suburb! hahaha. not a suburb. Anyway, most of the past few post about Los Angeles has been harsh. Let's think positive now. Peace fellow simtropolitans.

DISNEYLAND IS NOT IN LA! It is in a city 30 miles south of Los Angeles. And its Anaheim, CA! It is not in Metro L.A, or even in Los Angeles County, or even close to the closest city within Los Angeles County. Its not a suburb of Los Angeles. Anaheim is big enough to have its own commercial district. Well they have plans. (lived there for a long long time, so again I'd know) It is in the famous Orange County. But yea, don't hate me. please? haha. peace.

Originally posted by: dOwntOwnbUzz come on guys are kidding? LA is how a city shouldn't be? ok first off it is impossible to find two cities that are alitke, no matter how close or how far a lot of things are different, culture, popularity, tourism, crime, and total way of life and people move to so cal because it is better, yeah life sucks for commuters but the weather is awesome, it rains here like ten times a year and it's always sunny, and always warm hhmm let's compare in the winter: in new york, i just woke up and i wan't to go outside and get the paper, uhoh, i have to put on socks, shoes, shirt, PANTS, jacket and a warm hat in los angeles, i just woke up and i wan't to go outside and get the paper, ok, i'll go out in boxer shorts because i know it's a perfect 70* and people are different in LA, lots of different types of people, from laid back surfers to business menquote> No it is not, I have lived around LA and it is freaking hot in the summer. I'd say it goes up to 97 up to 100 (Many people died this summer because of the heat). And in winter it goes into 58 to 65 something. It is not a perfect 70. I think San Diego is the only city that I know that has a perfect 70. I know Los Angeles. And if someone has been living there couple months or couple years, yes. Of course, you'd say that it is the best city in the world. But for me, I've lived in the area for what? 18 yrs? It sucks! What sucks is, It is very expensive! I'll tell ya. Coz I'd rather live in Seattle (Which I might add a beautiful livable place) Real Estate, Transportation, and the cost of living are really expensive. I've lived about there, so I'd know. Plus, LA has a lot of people who thinks they have to have everything. A lot, I mean, alot are moving from LA to Anaheim, Huntington Beach, Mission Viejo, Fullerton, just to get away from the Los Angeles Atmosphere. Oh, did I tell you its very crowded? Los Angeles has a good reputation of being a "Tourist Haven" but, for the locals, you have to struggle on working, and working, and working, because working isn't enough to support your lifestyle when you're in LA. Sorry, that's the truth. I love LA, but not a place to live in.

Philadelphia vs Pittsburgh
mayorron replied to st louis dude's topic in Architecture & Urban Planning
Pittsburgh pour moi. I love Pittsburgh, haven't been there, but by what people says about the city, I kinda like it. The geographical location is beautiful. I love the hills, the trees, the river, oh did I say the hills? It is a very hilly city, I guess, much more "hilly" than San Francisco, well I don't know. But for Philly, I love the Cheesesteaks! haven't really been there, but I tasted one, although I isn't authentic. I guess I have to go there some other time for that delicious Philly icon. And yea, I'll visit Pittsburgh some day as well. -
Originally posted by: AsimovThere's more to a city than pretty skyscrapers and glamorous movie studios.quote> Thank you. I still love L.A, but yes, LA isn't really much of a Role Model to other growing cities. Originally posted by: Amavel In the next 10 years, I think we're going to see more western/southwestern cities in the Top 20 and more western metro areas climbing up the area rankings. And that means all the East coasters can start warming up to palm trees, good weather, and beautiful people because they're eventually going to be living here, hahahh.quote> Do you want Los Angeles and Southern California to be more crowded as it is right now? Let the other people go to Idaho, or Montana or something, than to go down SoCal and live in apartments or houses up in the hot deserts. No one can really afford real estate in SoCal. Plus everything is expensive. The crime... Traffic is unbearable, and still does this people want to move into SoCal? Now I think that wouldn't be practical. Stay in the East Coast or move up to Northeast US. Or move to Atlanta.. (just kidding, we can't talk about Atlanta now!) haha. Don't hate me! ... please..

Wow, somebody please give me tips how to do those kind of maps, i've been planning to do my 5th CJ.. got bored with the first 4. But I wan't to get everything done, and just post pictures of it. If somebody could please PM me about this "map making" thing, and provide me the name of the software or even a PM tutorial would be great. That is if there's no trouble for you guys doing that. Those Maps are really great! just great!

Just give your thoughts about Atlanta, on my Atlanta Thread. This is an LA Thread, and we should respect that by posting only about LA, and what beauty it yields. I kindly request this as the last post about Atlanta. Or if the creator of the topic allows comparisson between the two, let the title be changed. Thank you. ----- Yes, LA and its surrounding neighborhood is enourmous. But I thought NYC is the biggest City. With 5 boroughs around and a pop. of over 8million. I hope this brings no comparisson with NYC. But I'm just curious about this one. Since this thread is about Los Angeles, let me give a few words about it. Los Angeles Traffic is Unbearable! I guess all of you knows that. It is a crowded city, let's admit that. Organized crime exists in this city more than any that I know of. The surrounding Cities are "METRO LOS ANGELES" or "LOS ANGELES COUNTY" but not part of the city itself. It claims that Disneyland / California Adventure is theirs, it is not. It is in Anaheim, CA, where I'm from. It is 30miles down south of LA. It is a very expensive city to live in. Gas, food, transportation, real estate and etc. are really expensive. I guess if you don't have much money, it is practical to "NOT" live in LA. The good things are: LA is a city to be in when it comes to entertainment, dining and shopping. The Skyline is really great. Gotta Love Six Flags Universal Studios -- Major Attraction Lots of Museums and Art galores -- I love the Getty. Transportation is good as well, Blue Line (North-South) Green Line (LAX E-West) Red line (Subway) and more, I just forgot. And that's just about it. (Don't hate me) haha.

Originally posted by: dOwntOwnbUzz Originally posted by: Need4Camaro Is it just me or from those pictures does Downtown LA look MINUTE? It looks as if there's just one interchange for it and thats it.... Downtown Atlanta (the city where I reside) appears 4 times larger than Downtown LA... quote> that's what a lot of people say, but if you look at the diagrams at skyscraperpage.com the Los Angeles buildings are a lot taller than Atlanta Most LA buildings are scattered in a bunch, glendale, westwood, century city, all have pretty decent skylines but are scattered so actually, Atlanta is a lot smaller than LAquote> Yea, "MOST" LA buildings are taller than the ones in Atlanta. But Atlanta is the 3rd tallest city in the states, yes only, third to NYC, and CHI. For the Downtown thing though, I don't know which is bigger. But Atlanta has three or maybe even more districts. Put them all together, well still don't know. Downtown, Midtown, Buckhead, Sandy Springs, Dunwoody .. etc. Downtown is overrated when it comes to buildings, but if you're talking about Companies, Atlanta has alot more major ones. But if we're going to talk about Entertainment, there is no doubt that Los Angeles is the "KING". I was from Orange County, and been to Los Angeles lots of times. I love it. ---- Sorry about the obsession my friend. I guess This things should be in the Atlanta Thread, sorry once again.

Well, We're not really talking about DFW here. Atlanta, All the WAY! Houston is one of the greatest cities ever, but its lacking history now, compared to the rest of Texas. It doesn't have the "culture" that houston has had before. If you compare Houston to Dallas; San Antonio; Austin; and even El Paso, Houston falls behind. Atlanta, is a major cultural and commercial hub down in the south. Since the Summer Olympics of 1996, which is held in Atlanta, It became an Internationally known city. It is also home to Coca-Cola, UPS, Bellsouth, Siemens, TBS, Cingular, Delta Airlines, Home Depot, CNN, TNT, CN and more. It was also home to the great defunct World Championship Wrestling (WCW) Atlanta, is a sport city. Falcons: NFL (Georgia Dome) Hawks: NBA (Philips Arena) Thrashers: NHL (Philips Arena) Braves: MLB (Turner Field) The other ones are: -Atlanta Silverbacks: Soccer -Atlanta Vision: ABA Basketball -Atlanta Rollergirls: Roller Derby Women -Gwinnett Gladiators: East Coast Hockey League -Georgia Force: Arena Football League Education in the city is also great, with Georgia Tech, GSU, and Emory University. Atlanta is without a doubt, a very well educated city. The Districts are also unique. Downtown is the "Commercial District" and Midtown is known as the "Art and Culture District" Buchead and Surrounding Neighborhood is known as the "Shopping District" Hotels, Restaurants, Museums, Libraries, Shopping Center are all over Atlanta. Yes the Districts are Unique and so as the Skyline. Or should I say Skylines? Atlanta has a few skylines, and well, could be one. Downtown Midtown or this link: Buckhead Major Attractions are: -Atlanta History Center -Legendary Fox Theatre -High Museum of Art -The Varsity -World of Coca-Cola -Martin Luther King Jr. Nat. Historic Site -Stone Mountain -Six Flags Over Georgia -Underground Atlanta -World's largest Aquarium: Georgia Aquarium -Atl. Botanical Garden -Fernbank Science Center and the list goes on and on. Houton's skyline is great! I mean GREAT! Atlanta's skyline however is well. is Pretty good. It is not that dense. I don't want Atlanta to be as dense as Los Angeles, or NYC or Chicago. Skylines are overrated, it doesn't much define what a city is. Atlanta may not be as rich as Houston (because of the Oild Industry) but the Culture of the South lives within Hotlanta. The southern cuisine is great, and the people are heart warming. Atlanta was also kind of a dangerous city as Detroit (although Detroit is a lot worse), but crime is going down. Actually Houston's Crime rate is going up. It went up 32% from this time last year. Atlanta has been named by many as the "Unofficial Capital of the South" And for me, it already is. And for alot too. Houton is Great, Atlanta is Great. Long live the two great cities. Please check out my Atlanta thread.
