  1. My son is a rabid SimCity 4 fan & has built a couple tremendous regions with a couple dozen amazing cities, all on a computer that barely runs the game. Well, it was finally time to buy him a new laptop for college & we got him a tricked out Dell XPS, 2gb RAM, 7800 videocard, etc. We installed SimCity4 & the game runs great. However, now that we have installed SiMCity 4 on his new computer, we need to transfer his regions & cities to there...starting over is not an option We've tried copying the regions folders from the old computer & dumped them into the new computer...the files are in the folders & are associated with SimCity 4. But when we open the region, there are no cities, just open land! Please help, or I fear he may go nuts starting over from scratch!
  2. Ok, first let me thank everyone for their replies. Turns out the problem was that he had built the cities after installing Rush Hour, so because we hadn't installed Rush Hour yet on his computer, the cities weren't readable. Wow, I feel like kindof a dumbass...but isn't that usually the problem with computers & those of us who consider ourselves computer savvy? I tried different drivers & all kinds of different elaborate fixes & didn't stop to think that maybe we needed to fully install all the expansion packs first. Anyway, I have recommended the site to him & he may start looking through it soon; for now he's just glad to have his cities back & on a computer that runs roughly 300X as fast. Regards, Ryan
  3. Thanks for the replies. We had used a thumb drive to transfer the folder, but we'll delete & try over. Plus I will check the write permissions, etc as well.
