Terrain importing vs terraforming - a height anomaly
rdu-steve replied to Severn's topic in SC4 Showcase
Has anyone done anything more with this? I would like to be able to use all the elvations without hand terraforming. Ive tried my hand at using the reader but cant find the exemplars that Andy listed. Where did your directory type structure come from? I would like to see a mod for this, but then I can see where some would want to adjust this to their personal preference. I'm computer literate enough to be dangerous on my own, but if someone told me where the exemplars are located, Im sure I could tweak them myself. Thanks Steve ---edit--- ok, im the nimrod who didnt read the thread about the reader in the modding section. I found the two exemplars by chance. But still where did that directory type stucture come from? -
Terrain importing vs terraforming - a height anomaly

my only problem with the terrain importing system, is that if you want to create very tall mountains, you have to use God-mode. The imported terrain is nowhere near the highest SC will go. God-mode terraforming takes entirely to long. There should be a way to import from a jpeg to the game at the highest altitude. -

Its most likely punks who download the game. Rather than pay $40, they sit there and enter random codes until one works. I really dont know how EA can stop this, which is why I am against all this code crap. I still havent gotten a decent reply from EA about my request -

Well it seems that they have updated the EA tech support site to include Simcity. But they will not respond to my emails. They originally sent an auto-response saying they would not respond to my yahoo address, their email volume reason is BS; they know that people like me use that as a registration email to avoid spam. So I email from my regular email (not a freebie email) and they send me back a form to reply with all my account info. Now Im getting happy, thinking I might get somewhere. I fill out their form and send it back; today I get the same response of "Unfortunately, we do not answer email directly from this email address" THEN HOW DID YOU SEND ME THE FORM I know some of you have gotten good support from EA but after two weeks of just auto-response crap, all I can say is their support sucks. -
amd you are one sick individaul. I like the Dallas interchange but the East LA is gonna be hard to top

Well, I am now in the same boat as SlyFox. I want to use the awsome lots that are on this site, but cant without the files from Simcity.com. I go there and get the run-around on "product registering"; it says my key code is invalid or already in use. Of course it's in use, BY ME!!! I know I have done this stuff already, because I download the RH patch. So if I wait about a week, they'll send me a survey to complain on so they can burn their tech support guys. Something weird about the tech support site, Simcity is not mentioned at all, anywhere. It's like Simcity is their forgotten red-headed step-child. Very annoying, but I guess they know we're addicted to their great game and we'll buy whatever they put out. -
Good point on the parking, how far is it from the houses to the stations? Has anyone taken this a step further and tested the speeds over greater distances. Try it with the tracks zig-zaging across the map covering several hundred tiles. Perhaps the monorail will improve in performance as the number of tiles increases. I'll try it tonight.

I make neighborhoods off the main roads. These neighborhoods have about 50 R lots and 3-6 C. The C should be placed where the neighborhood street attaches to the main roads, or next to the local MT stops. I've been thinking of increasing the C:R ratio to help with all the traffic. We'll see.....
