As in previous versions of SimCity, some of the buildings that are not landmarks, still exist in the real world. Although I have only submitted one example myself, it is probably not the first one. If you would like to add more, just .....
Van Prooijen Trading - The bottom part looks a lot like Heritage Plaza, in Houston, Texas, USA
Lind Entertainment - Modeled after New York City's Woolworth Building. The Woolworth Building was completed in 1913 and dubbed the "Cathedral of Commerce" because of it's church-like features (stained glass, gargoyles, many small details) for a short time it stood as the World's Tallest Building. Lind Entertainment looks almost exactly like it except for the fact that many ornamental details were removed.
Opera House (Reward) - based on the Opéra Garnier in Paris, built in 1875. The front and the famous dome are in SimCity 4, except that the one in SimCity 4 is rectangular and shorter, whilest the Garnier has bits added on.
McClellan Inc. - Rockefellar Center, New York, NY, USA
Maxis Theatre - Providence City Hall, Providence, RI, USA
Walton Plaza - Bronx County Courthouse, New York, NY, USA
Walton Plaza also looks similar to two twin buildings in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, Canada.
Wren Insurance - Shell Building, San Francisco, CA, USA
Other Notes
- Some of the early middle class houses you see are loosely based on Frank Lloyd Wright's famous 1900-1930s 'Prairie Houses'
- The monorail system in Rush Hour is used in a select few real-life cities: Seattle, Washington, USA, and is a mode of transportation between locations in Disney World, in Orlando, Florida, USA.
