Simpleton Series: Bridge selection tool in SimCity 3000

SimCity is a battle between the player trying to be creative and get what is desired v's the program handing out what it wants to. Too often we have to take what is given! Therefore any time we can dictate our wishes is a golden opportunity – this one is very easy.

There are four types of bridges in SimCity and what bridge you actually get is dictated by the amount of water tiles to be crossed. If you want a specific bridge design then editing your river banks or choosing a different crossing point can give you exactly what you are after – if you know what the program is going to award you for your effort and simoleons!

In the following three illustrations you can see the four types of bridges. I have steadily stepped out the water width and you can also see that the bridge types themselves also alter somewhat (or greatly). The magnification is sufficient for you to count tiles of water width each bridge is generated by.

Keep this handy when you are creating your city – you may then more surely get exactly the effect you want in particular places.
