Land Value. It is almost certainly somewhere in every piece of strategy in SimCity 3000. Having a uniformly high land value around your city is indicative of its prosperity, that its citizens are happy, and that the city's future is bright.
Land Value depends on these factors:
- The Maturity of a city
- The Invisible Location Factor (see later)
- The accessibility of the area to key facilities, such as hospitals
- The presence of parks and recreational facilities in the vicinity
- The landscape around the area: water and trees, sloped areas
- Pollution and Crime levels.
Land Value and Tax
People often cringe at the idea of spending too much money on improving neighborhoods just for the sake of land values (such as building sports parks). However, what most people do not know is that tax in SC3K is calculated based on the population of that sector and the average land value as well. In other words, the better the land value, the more tax revenue you get. If you look at it another way, building these parks and other land value improving facilities can actually slowly pay off as land values increase.
