Hercules Terminator Beast/Savage fix in SimCity 3000

This article pertains to problems with the Hercules Terminator Beast/Savage 3D cards. The symptoms are missing text and/or graphics in SimCity 3000 for Windows.

To fix the problem, get the latest s3 drivers from www.s3.com (any beta drivers should work fine if they are the latest) and install them and reboot. Then get DirectX 6.1 (www.microsoft.com), install it, and then reboot again. After rebooting, run the game. It should have fixed all the problems with the graphics and text. If that doesn't work, you need to use Regedit to manually change a value after you followed the above steps. (WARNING: Be very careful using Regedit--if you make a mistake you can seriously screw up your system).

**These instruction pertain to win 98, I dont have a win 95 machine to test**

1. Run REGEDIT.EXE (go to Start, then Run, type "regedit.exe" then press enter).
2. Click Edit then Find and do a search for "TP" (without the quotes).
3. It should find a key named TP under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/CONFIG/0001/Display/Settings/
4. TP should be highlighted and the DATA column beside it should read "ON"
5. Right click on TP, select Modify.
6. Delete ON and replace it with OFF.
7. Click OK.
8. Exit Regedit.
9. Start SimCity 3000.
10. ENJOY!
