This is a handy trick for if you're trying to put an avenue through a tunnel, but the game will only let you build tunnels at least one tile apart from each other, forcing you to separate the lanes of the avenue. This gets around that limitation.
- Make sure the two tiles you wish to tunnel through are even with each other.
- Make your first tunnel as usual.
-
To make the second, adjacent tunnel, draw the road *perpendicular* to the first and immediately before the start of the hill. Cross the first road and the tile where you wish to start the second tunnel, move your cursor up just a tiny bit onto the hill, and a blue square should light up right where you want your tunnel, followed by a red square where your cursor is. Release. See figure below for an example.
-
Sit back and enjoy your new, more realistic looking tunnel (below)!
Notes: This also works for railroads, and building underwater tunnels. Its also useful for building grade-crossing eliminations for your railroads and main thoroughfares, letting them cross each other uninterrupted. See below for articles covering these concepts.
