Build a very big wall in SimCity 3000

Some possible uses for this wall are:

• a prison compound (as pictured above)
• a military base
• an enclosure for a nuclear meltdown area (because Sims are silly enough to think the wall will keep them safe!)
• sea walls, flood walls, and dikes
• city walls
• the Great Wall of China

Start by making stretch a highway that is 3-tiles wide (so build a highway, then build a second one overlapping it by 1 tile). Next, bulldoze the central strip of highway tiles leaving two strips of highway pieces. Finally, bulldoze out whichever of the two strips you do not want to keep. The remaining strip of highway pieces is your new wall!

Now to add a "gate" in the wall, follow the image below:

1. This is the strip of highway bits forming your wall. (The red pointer is just to indicate the viewing direction.)
2. Build one click's worth of highway as shown.
3. Build a road (or rail) into the side of the highway, one tile deep. This makes the gate.
4. (View is rotated 180-degrees.) Bulldoze the two extra highway bits, and continue the road (or rail). Note that although this side of the gate appears "closed", traffic will still travel through the wall.
