    Advice on business deals

    Contributor/author(s): Princess

Business deals are confusing. They give you a lot of cash, but awful things happen if you're not careful, or sometimes even if you are careful. Before I analyze the business deals, remember these four things:

    1. You must wait three years between rejecting a business deal and being offered another one.
    2. You must wait five years after ending a business deal to be offered another one.
    3. You will only be offered a business deal if you don't have enough cash reserves to pay for three years' expenses.
    4. The building must be powered, watered, and on a road, or you won't get any money.

Now, here is a complete analysis of all four business deals.

    Maximum-Security Prison
    Money offered: $250 a month
    Negative effects: Decreased land value
Dealing with effects: Place it away from the city and surround it with parks and museums.
    Other notes: No pollution produced
    Final verdict: Take it

    Gigamall
    Money offered:$300 a month
Negative effects: Commerce shut down, pollution, decreased land value
Dealing with effects: Place it far away from the city and try to raise commercial demand.
Other notes: Commerce will come back, but it'll take a while(5-10 years).
Final verdict: Take it if your city is well developed.

    Casino
    Money offered: $350 a month
Negative effects: Decreased land value, pollution, out-of-control crime
Dealing with effects: Place it far away from the city and surround it with police stations. Also add more jails to handle the crime increase.
Other notes: Needs legalized gambling, petitioners beg you to cancel deal
Final verdict: Only take it if you really need the cash and you're prepared for the crime increase.

    Toxic Waste Plant
    Money offered: $400 a month
Negative effects: Major pollution, decreased land value
Dealing with effects: Place it in a corner of the map and surround it with as many trees as possible.
Other notes: Petitioners complain before you even place it on the map.
Final verdict: Not unless you have all other business deals going and you are so deep in debt that you will soon be thrown out of office and this is the only way out.

These are just my thoughts, though. If you don't give a darn about pollution, then go ahead and take the toxic waste plant. If you hate low land value, reject the prison. If your goal is zero crime, reject the casino. Good luck!
