Look, I get the anger that's out there, and I get that people want to be punitive to EA. But you can punish EA/Maxis however you want -- do not punish Simtropolis for trying to get by.

 Bookitty: I'm not sure if this hasn't gotten through, but it's near impossible to not advertise as you put it, "this trash." The site was founded by SimCity 4 fans and whenever a new installment comes out, no doubt attention will be brought to it.

Also I would like to point out there is no flashing signs, saying "OOH LOOK AT THIS GAME IT IS GREAT BUY NOW BUY NOW THROW OUT YOUR OLD GAMES THIS IS ALL YOU NEED". Some of the staff have been quite critical and don't recommend it, however being a forum for city bilding games we have had a high influx of new members becoming interested in SC2013. Hence we just ask for a bit of thanks back, by clicking this link IF you choose to purchase.

Finally, they get paid. We don't. They are trying to advertise in order to keep the food on the table; we are doing this so we can keep the site running for you, the community.

The game is being sold regardless of whether or not you or I like it.

 

As the website owner, and the guy that has to make sure bills are paid so the website remains up, it would be pretty stupid of me to dismiss any opportunity to raise funds and support the site when I can. I try to not let emotions cloud my judgement.

 

In any case, considering this site is free and charges you nothing to use, it's my responsibility to make sure gets financed any way it can. It's not my responsibility to make you feel good or bad about how that happens.
