About this City Journal
St. Clair was recently a small farming community in the southernmost province (Southern Shores) of the Republic of Abenworth (a fictional nation in Tasmania). It has recently experienced several growth spurts and a new startup culture. As the city grows with each census, new challenges and struggles will occur as a new St. Clair rises.
St. Clair was founded in 1855 by Sir James Tolson. The "Colony of Aben" in Tasmania had been a British possession since 1820, and James with his two ship caravan was on their way to the port city of Astoria, in the modern day province of Wynyard, Abenworth. James and his crew were pushed off course by a storm, and accidentally discovered the territory of Southern Shores. This port city eventually became the capital of Southern Shores, and served as the administrative capital for a short time during the Independence of Abenworth in the Choragottlan Treaty in 1898.
