Iron Plain
Iron Plain
City on the Clock

Status: Ward
Population: 250,000 (approx.)
Founded: 1650
Mayor: Brent Chavez
Originally, this large plain near the coast served as vast pastures for cattle of the early settlers. The name "Iron Plain" came from rusted iron rock scattered about the pastures and the prominent hills to the north. When the population of the area grew sufficiently to begin mining the ore, the city began to develop around Coronet's first deep water harbor.

The "city" of Iron Plain has expanded repeatedly over the years to accommodate it's expansion. The original settlement was on the southern most point. Most of this old town is now incorporated into Iron Plain's University.

Following the massive industrial growth of the city, a new downtown was established in the mid 19th century. Today, what is commonly known as "downtown" lies between the major industrial parks on the southern plain and the residential hills to the north. Most of the civil services and transportation hubs can be found here, as well as some of the oldest and most well regarded theaters and music halls in all of Coronet. The working man's city has it's charms too.

The latest attraction of Iron Plain is the third renovation of the cities "center". Known to locals as "New Center", it represents Iron Plains growth in the commercial sector of the Coronet economy. Showcased by the iconic "Crystal Spire", this district has become a key financial and trade center, as well as providing comfortable space for businesses to operate on the outskirts of the city of Golden Harbor.
Recently, the mass transit system of Iron Plain received a massive overhaul to upgrade it's freeway access into Golden Harbor as well as linking the elevated rail network into Golden Harbor service lines. Downtown Iron Plain to Downtown Golden Harbor can be done in 45 minutes by rail. This has brought a boom to Iron Plain's residential sector, as it embarks on a new metamorphesis into a suburban community.
