Northwest Miami Started as a small sleepy town. When Miami began to grow and expand outward the city proposed a highway that would connect downtown miami to the northwest side. In 1950 the cities population had grown so much that city became elligable for a huge develop a mall. The Ventura Shopping mall was developed by James E. Schults. Located at 19501 BISCAYNE BLVD the Mall sits in a prime location for major delevopment. the mall first began with just over 450 sq. ft. and in 1985 had a major renovation done and added another floor bringing the mall up to 1,500 sq. ft. The mall has 3 major department stores: Nordstrom, Sears, and Hechts. Kohls is another major box store built right across the street. In 1999 the mall began on a huge 3.8 Million dollar redevelopment and completed it in 2002. The inside was remodled and the parking lots were re-done. the huge glass dome entrance was also added. the mall is located right off the Palmetto Expressway. Future development around the mall: a new stand alone chili's, bed bath and beyond, and applebee's.
Miami Dade Medical Center
The newly built Medical center was built along I-385. Many new medical buldings are expected to be built within the next few years along the highway. Located along Lorence blvd.
Sunset Place Center.
Newly built shopping center on 19497 BISCAYNE BLVD. the center includes: Barnes & nobles, office depot, sports authority, compUSA and a china buffet. A California Pizza Kitchen also has built its newest restuarant in the shopping center..it has its stand alone site.
Miami MetroZoo. Located along I-385. Ir offers over 120 exhibits. Its also a highly rated zoo for having exotic animals from foreign countries.
