One of the world's most remarkable natural gifts, the Great Barrier Reef is blessed with the breathtaking beauty of the world’s largest coral reef. The reef contains an abundance of marine life and comprises of over 3000 individual reef systems and coral cays and literally hundreds of picturesque tropical islands - and I've tried to truly bring these scenes to life and make them authentic as possible throughout the update with custom made terrain mods and lot editor textures. Because of its natural beauty, the Great Barrier Reef has become one of the worlds most sought after tourist destinations. Visitors here can enjoy many experiences including snorkeling, scuba diving, aircraft or helicopter tours, bare boats (self-sail), glass-bottomed boat viewing, semi-submersibles and educational trips, cruise ship tours, whale watching and swimming with dolphins. Today, we'll be exploring the many wonders of this one of a kind natural wonder.

Located immediately south of the reef is the largest city in the region, Brisbane. We'll stay the night in a hotel in the city's CBD overlooking the Brisbane River and head out in the morning to start exploring the reef.

We catch a plane and head over the heart of the Great Barrier Reef - taking in the reef's mesmerizing, unique coral formations from the air.

Some of them look truly out of this world with their maze-like labyrinth of coral, rocks, and limestone islands.

The reef's rich biodiversity is unparalleled with nearly 10,000 marine species calling it home - and has become well known for its vibrant display of colors. In recent years however, the reef has taken a massive hit from rising temperatures and coral bleaching. Many of the reef's most famous species like the giant clam are dying out and other parts of the reef have become unrecoverable - but there's still enough wonders remaining that will keep you in awe.

Stretching over 1,600 miles long, the Great Barrier Reef isn't just the world's largest coral reef but also the worlds largest living organism. It's a truly magnificent sight from above - especially near the Whitsunday Islands, where a huge coral channel has formed over the eons, making for a popular destination by boat and plane.
