Malaysia
Malaysia is a Southeast Asian country occupying parts of the Malay Peninsula and the island of Borneo. It's known for its beaches, rainforests and mix of Malay, Chinese, Indian and European cultural influences. The capital, Kuala Lumpur, is home to colonial buildings, busy shopping districts, and skyscrapers - most notably the famous 1,483 foot tall Petronas Twin Towers. Today, we'll be taking a tour around the country and visiting a few of Malaysia's most iconic sights.
Our journey to Malaysia begins on the island of Penang - one of the country's most beautiful and most visited tourist destinations. The world class beaches, stunning scenery, and fantastic weather make for a perfect getaway.
After enjoying a few days on the beach, we head out to explore the eastern side of the island - which is where you'll find Malaysia's second largest city, George Town. It's the colorful, multicultural capital of Penang - once an important Straits of Malacca trading hub, the city is known for its British colonial buildings, Chinese shophouses and mosques.
For our next couple of sights, we'll be catching a flight and heading for Malaysian Borneo - also known as East Malaysia or collectively, Sabah, Sarawak and Labuan. While it's much less densely populated and visited than the mainland, this section of Malaysia still has plenty of wonders such as the majestic Mount Kinabalu - rising 13,435 feet tall, it's country's highest point.
Although much of Malaysian Borneo is rugged and heavily forested, the lowlands offer the locals a prime spot for agriculture - rice production is one of the country's most important economic activities and terraced rice paddies can be seen hugging the hillsides for miles around.
After our stay in Borneo, we catch a flight back for the mainland - and we'll now explore the country's iconic capital city, Kuala Lumpur. Its modern skyline is dominated by the 1,483 tall Petronas Twin Towers, a pair of glass-and-steel-clad skyscrapers with Islamic motifs - and are also known for their public skybridge and observation deck which offer incredible views of the surrounding skyline. Here we see these iconic towers at nighttime.

Our tour of Malaysia concludes with one more overview of Kuala Lumpur's impressive skyline from above.
