Second update: East Bay; Bayview and Ianamus Zura
East Bay, Bayview and Ianamus Zura:

Ok so here we go to three more cities, we are spinning around vernacia's island counter-clockwise. Bayview and Ianamus Zura are the main cities on the southern island, so things will be interesting over here!
First though, the next little town.
East Bay

East Bay is the eastern limit of Vernacia Bay, where the southern mountain range suddenly drops down into a wide mouth that leads into a large sheltered seaport.

This is the town's docklands and the town square (rectangle actually) beside mansions of some of the local rural lords.
The city is very small and not much is going on here, as always. Rumors are though that there's oil in the sea platform in the coast of the city, however there never had been real interest in surveying its waters...

The backbone of the city also resides in local farming which produces just enough food for the city.

The only things to note here are the observation tower, a very old stone tower that was built to monitor the traffic in and out of the bay, some old gunpowder cannons can still be found in its deck, it was one of the main watch posts for the sheltered bay. The tower also long served as an observatory for tracing of sky charts on the unexplored southern seas. It is one of the few locations on the whole colony that has what you can call scholars, a drastic oposition to the uneducated and rough people who make the gross of Vernacia's society.

A lonely lighthouse in a rocky stone outcropping marks the entrance of the bay.

Ok now here we got something! Bayview is Vernacia's colonial capital, the seat of the viceroy and the main seaport for the resources extracted on the island!

This is the viceroy's Place and Plaza, the statue of Ianamus Zura, the explorer who discovered the island of vernacia, overlooks the sea.
Vernacia is one of the few cities that are allowed to build taller buildings, in accordance with the Apartment Edict of 1856.

With 14 thousand inhabitants, Bayview is the busiest city around, what is not much though thanks to the large economic limitations that are enforced by the Metropolis.
The seaport is the busier portion of the city, where many warehouses are loaded with raw materials for exporting, the coal power plant vomits soot in the sky to power the city, and ships from the homeland come and go. The coast guard also has its seat here, and is known for being a den of influential military liberal thinkers.

Here's a close-up of the pier with merchant ships loading and unloading .

Ianamus Zura is a middle sized city named after the explorer who discovered the Vernacia Isle, curiously though, the city posseses not even a single statue of the hero.

The small lake on the city's center is a local source of fresh water, a very precious resource in the region.

An overview of the city's center also reveals it is not really a very busy place. It also is allowed to construct taller buildings in accordance with the Apartment Edict.

As it is common, the town square, with some food vendors and the colonial insignia in the center.

ianamus Zura is composed but of many smaller villages around the farmlands, summing to a total population of about nine thousand citizens. Curiously though, the town lacks a proper hall, and most council meetings are held on the houses of influential rural lords.

Due to its proximity to Bayview, the docks are just for passanger ferries, and a small industrial sector has developed, mostly related with initial processing of the food produced in the town and its neighbours. Milling and vegetable oil production are the common activities in these dirty warehouses.
And now a word from our maestro! ![]()
Ok six cities out of 15, 19 to go! The farming size mod really helped me to make Ianamus Zura a more interesting farming community. A special mention on the CJ for the person who points out where I stole its name from! ![]()
Stay tuned for the next cities!
