 Welcome to Lafayette

Pop: 83 000

Towns: Lafayette City, Lafayette Point, Cornell, East Bay

Lafayette is a medium-sized town situated inland at the foot of a large mountain. It was originally settled in late 19th century, and thus has a great wealth of early and mid 20th century architectural styles throughout its city centre. The main focus of this CJ is urban planning and building up histories of various suburbs and areas within the city.

I should first warn that I am using a Mac and SC will (probably) explode/implode/destroy itself sometime though this CJ.

Also, a great big thankyou to nofunk and Jasoncw for their amazing submissions to the ST Exchange.

If anyone has any suggestions for BATs or MODs that may fit in with the general style of Lafayette, please leave a comment.

Promising-looking city so far.

Hrm, I'm thinking of getting a MacBook for college, but SC4 doesn't like Macs you say? That's not good...

thanks for the comments guys,

froelich131 - thanks, and yes I do, but is there a reason you ask? I'm no really sure what to use in the NAM? I tried GLR for another city but it seemed to take up a lot of room and not have much impact. What do you suggest?

Amryal200 - thanks, but yes macs and SC4 don't work too well together. They're ok, but here are some things (some very minor) that I've noticed so far:
  • There is a grid pattern even when the grid is off. If you look carefully at that picture its noticeable especially around the school.
  • It's difficult installing some of the BATs especially when they are included in some fancy (but stupid) exe file. Not sure why people do that, not certain it adds anything over a zip.
  • No nightlighting for custom buildings.
  • Lots of graphics glitches that will render a bunch of farms white or a whole road empty for some reason. Also some minor things like the cars can sometimes be seen through the building, like in some spots above.
  • If a city gets large enough the game crashes through simple things like zoning or placing simple things like schools or roads. Not sure how to fix it.... I wish I could but its driving me insane.
Hope that helps. Update sooooon.......
