clicking a menu item to make UI popup

hi guys, just wondering if there's any way to link a menu with a UI?

i want to be able to click a new menu icon (i've already created one) and then make a UI pop up as a response.

short answer: no

long answer: you can make a news message trigger on the presence of a lot. You could, for example, attach a certain base lot to this menu item and trigger a news popup when this lot is ploppped or each time this lot is clicked.

edit: with "menu item" I assume you mean in the lots menu right? like a landmark with a custom menu icon so it looks like an option? or do you mean something else?

yeah i mean the lots menu... hmmm i'm just trying to figure out the best way to continuously display statistics... maybe i can forget the menu thing and just make a query popup on regular intervals.
