Sub Basic Newbie Question

This prolly already exists on this site somewhere, so just point me to it if it does.  I am such a newbie to this site and to the very concept of using plugins for Sim City x that I need very basic knowledge.  I've played Sim City, Sim City 3000, and now Sim City 4.  So, I know the games.  I just don't have a clue about pluging and mods.  

I have downoaded some mods (plop-in structures mostly) and unzipped them into individual folders in My Doc\Sim City 4\Plugins.  What do I need to do then?  If I simply restart the game, none of them are available, even if I use the "you don't deserve this" cheat.  They just don't show up in the lists.  Is there a mod or plugin installation program that I need to run?

From what I've read in here, the NAM is a must.  If it fixes some of the basic transportation frustrations that I've experienced, then I want it badly.  I also need instructions on how to install that as well.

Sorry for being such a $%&^!.  Just point me in the right direction and I'll figure it out eventually.  LOL.

I guess they are what is called: growable. This means that they will be build by the game, when the conditions are to it.

I would recommened you to check out the threads in the New Members Information forum. That would also have been the right forum for these kind of questions.

Well the NAM can be downloaded from stnam.com. How to install it ? There is a nice long readme to guide you through that. If you have pc take the pc-version which is an installer, that helps you a long way.
