46.gifThis is a major stuff up of my game. I recently tried modding the Sim City_1 file. Now when playing the game hospitals and schools regulary show up as having 83 capacity. Of course I did not save my fixes. Has anyone experienced this and is there a way to fixing it?

The only way I can think of to fix this is to re-instal the game as this will instal a fresh version of all the files. I tend to leave the original game files well alone as it's all too easy to do things like this (yes, in the past this has happened to me too).

I did experience this, but before I modded the DAT file concerned, I normally back-up a copy, so if anything goes wrong, I can just replace the specific file.

NEVER save simcity_1.dat (or any other ingame dats)!!!

If you to make mods, copy the desired exemplars in iLive, paste them in a new datfile, and save it under My Documents\Simcity4\Plugins or C:\Program Files\...Simcity4\Plugins (or any other folder under them). Then mod the exemplars in the saved file. As they use the same TGI IDs and these files are loaded after the ingame ones, the exemplars in the new plugin will replace (or "override", or "mod") the originals. This is the correct way to mod.

I would suggest that you reinstall the game to ensure a proper installation, but may be enough to install the patches only.
