Baseball Stadium BAT

I haven't thought of a good name for this place yet, but I should have time to decide - I'm only about halfway done with the project. I have all of the seat and amenity textures done, some added in already.

Also (finally) got up the courage to make a completely new diamond. Building on the in-game one was rough, given how small and misproportioned it is. Also, I'm experimenting with making sloped berms, like you see at minor league parks nowadays.
So, here's what I've got so far...

scba: this is extremely brave of you to do, considering even the greatest of the great haven't tried something like this. i suggest one thing. for like the offices of the stadium, where the announcer is and box seats, try and BAT those buildings as it would look better than a bunch of *slowly whispers this evil word* Maxis buildings *AAAAGH! CAN'T BREATHE NOW! AAAAGH!* stacked together. other than that, oh, and try and find some better textures for the field. looks cartoony. other than that, this is "shapin" up well! pun! topcliff

Yeah. I'm going to end up covering the buildings that you see so that they won't be as easily recognizable. One of my true horrors in BAT in glass, so that's why I cheat with those.

But I'm attempting to make the area behind home plate with a new building, and plop some more in the outfield. The ones on the 3rd base line are REALLY obvious, I know, I might not even keep those.

The field...eh. It's brighter than it should be, but it seems like no matter how darker I make it, the color on the GMAX doesn't show up any different. There also won't be any lines where the field textures ends and the normal LE grass begins, I'm gonna be tampering with berms all the way around the outfield, as soon as I figure the fence out. :\

I extended the berms all the way around into left field, and made a small perch in right that won't look right for a little while. A lot of parks nowadays have an unnecessary grass/seat ratio, but even so, I might make one more section of seats down the 3rd base line and take out some slope.



I'm also not going to have any boxes or overhang buildings down that line to make it a little more open. Made a pretty cool prop for the now-lame entryway.



Thinking about putting a building behind the seating in right field above the berm, kind like what Durham has in real life.

I apoligize for the tiny pics, my usual host isn't working right now, and I guess we still can't upload to here. Oh well.

I'm making the berm just extend around the whole park, and it looks kinda good. Also added the scoreboard and a new building set.





And I'm REALLY getting pissed off. I've been trying to BAT this pillar and arch system to go around the home plate seating area, but every time, it either comes out crooked (changes with the angle) or comes out warped, like I don't have any space to make it. Been clearing things out all day and the darn thing still won't function right.

So that means that as long as the site is down, all of the earlier pictures are as well.

And thinking about it now...this place kind of looks like Kaufmann Stadium's little brother...

I'm soooo close to being done. All I have to do is add more stuff in the plaza, do the outfield walls, foul poles, and figure out what the hell happened in the RF corner.

If you're going to make a new building/lot, do it, by all means. But, please, for the love of the gods, don't take existing buildings and slot them in somewhere. Doing so makes your lot look plain ugly. I mean, come on, those HT buildings are like the second most overused in all of the lots created on the STEX.

Otherwise, nice work.
