My City Won't Load

I wonder if anybody could help me. I have a large size city, and it's been loading correctly for the past couple of weeks until yesterday. It will start loading up, and then it will crash, and the game shuts down. What could be causing the city to crash? I also have another city, it crashes everytime High-Tech industries start growing. What could be the source of that problem? As for my computer specs, 512MB, 2.50GHz P4, 6GB free space, 64MB NVIDIA card.

Well, it would be good to know what OS you use.

In the mean time, I would suggest making another region with a large city and seeing if that works.  That will help determine if there is a problem with those cities or large cities in general.

Try setting your virtual memory to 1536MB minimum and 2048MB Maximum. If you have the same NVIDIA MOBO set I have, there is an update to increase your video memory, but I wouldn't do that unless you can add a 256MB memory stick, at least.

If you are playing on a laptop, be aware that you may be overheating. The CPU usage by this game is 100%.

It might be a plugin that you downloaded.  I had the same problem with my game.  The game would crash when I tried to load up any one of my cities and I had not been having the problem previously.  I went in and took out all of the plugins that I had recently downloaded anfd kep t restarting the game until I found the one that was causng the problem and the game started up fine. So, you might want to try that

there are so many variables just inside the game let alone outside the game conflicts that can cause this, but confined to just HTind...mmm

A:could have been just a bad save...hope you have a backup...maybe it's still working ? (always back up favorite "keeper cities") or all cities crashing ?

B: does the city give you any plugin # missing before crashing or does it right from the start of the growth of any HTind?

C: like above...added or deleted any mods or other plugin recently..specially ones that deal with modding IND or a new HTind lot or bat? this could cause a city to crash.

Maybe I should consider backing up my cities from now on. I was rather pissed since it took me about two weeks or so to get the city to that point, and I just started putting in the light rail system. Like I said before, the problem is with two large cities. One called "Sevres" just doesn't load up. The other, "Annapolis Royal", will load up, and everything works until high tech industry starts to grow. The other cities will load up with no problems, they work well and they don't crash. I didn't add or remove any BATS or plug-ins recently. The only thing different is the fact that I built an airport using Joerg and SimWing's packs in Sevres. I never got any "plug-in" missing alerts in either city. BTW, this is on my desktop, not laptop.

Backups are always good, especially if you are adding plugins. I use a DVD-RW for mine.

One of the big problems with the plugins in this game is that it is impossible to quality assure them with all possible combinations of equiptment and operating software to say nothing of the four versions of the game.

In addition, because of the identifiers on lots, it is possible for them to fall over each other and cause general trouble. The problem here makes the one in the last paragraph look like a walk in the park. There are millions of possiible combinations, if not billions. Testing these by the lot creator is impossible. That is why you should always test new plugins in your private environment and do backups regularly.
