New Computer Doesn't Run SC4 Deluxe

I just bought a new computer...

    Intel 920 Dual-core 2.8Ghz processor
    2GB Ram
    SB Live! Sound card
    Matrox APVe Video Card
    2 Dell 19" LCD panels
    Windows XP

One would think SC4 Deluxe would run on it, but to my dissappointment, when I try running the game, it comes up trying to load, but just automatically closes.

I updated SC4 Deluxe, and I know I have ALL the current drivers for everything on my computer.

I even tried fiddling with the command line switches to see if I could get it to work that way...but nothing.

Anybody have any suggestions?  Is my computer "too good" for SC4 Deluxe?

    Thanks!

    Corey

At a guess, the Matrox card may be a big problem.

Those cards are geared more towards desktop video editing systems - which they are great for, not gaming - which they have always been lowsy for.

Your computer's not too good for the game.  The problem is not in your hardware, it's in your software.  You stated that you updated it so that means it installed correctly.  Maybe?  I would completely un-install it and then check to make sure that all traces of it have actually been removed from your computer.  Then do a reinstall and try running it without any patches or updates.  If that works then your problem is with the patches and updates.  If that doesn't work then the problem is with the operating system or associated service. 10.gif

Also make sure the graphics driver settings have antialiasing turned off.
