Fire storm!

Last night I was working on an oil power plant empire, about a mile apart from the nearest road,bunched up, and the time was running - big mistake.

I had about a third of it completed[about sixty placed, side by side], when one of the power plants caught fire. Since it was a mile away from road, I ignored it. Another big mistake [but, how could I connect it with fire coverage, it was surrounded by power plants], as the fire bred like a herd of rabbits. Within minutes, a fire storm had swept through the power towers. I replaced a few, but I couldn't keep up by the rate it was going at. It was on average about 5 seconds until the next boom, what a rate! And when one exploded, it destroyed anything within a two tile vicinity.

And, as a result,only 5 were left!

This story shows how fire coverage IS necessary when you have dirty industry and dirty (oil + coal) power plants. However, it is NOT necessary when you use natural gas (or cleaner) power plants, and have manufacturing/HT industry. I never have a single fire in such cities. And as I never rely on dirty industry and power, as they do more harm than good, there's never been any fire outbreak in any of my recent cities.

Woah, watch the Caps in your title rocketoink. I agree with simmax that fire coverage is necessary when you are working with dirty industry and coal and oil power plants.

no road neccesary, it will stop the fire if you are in the red circle of the fire station

In my opinion fires in sc4 are much too easy to handle. I remember that in sc2 I even had to plan firebreaks to stop the extreme fires after a plane crash. Here in sc4 fires expand very slowly. Even a fire in a dense forest wil go out without help in no time. Isn't there a modd to change that?
