What's your average commute time?

You can get the NAM which features improvements regarding your transport network. Using it, you can also select the accuracy of the pathfinding but at the cost of greatly increased CPU usage.

Welcome to Simtropolis. PM me or others if you need any help.

What is your transport nework like? The NAM can help by better pathfinding but if your transport system isen't good then your commute time will always remain high. In smaller communities having a bus system can really decrease road congestion at a low price and once you get to high density a subway system can help even more althougth this is expensive.

there are many ways:

note: if u have rush hour, this is much easier

1: upgrade any streets to roads and any accessible roads to avenues

2: put some highways down and upgrade ur avenues to ground highways

3: lay down some subway stations and tracks

4: make room for a rail network

5: put some bus stops down

6:make a elevated rail and monorail network.

Just so you know, a BAT is a building made by someone with a special program and a modd is a software that moddifies the game.

About the commute time, upgrade streets to roads, replace roads to avenues, put subways, buses, monorail (not everything, just experiment and you'll get used to it after).

Good luck !

the real problem is even though my commute time is 50, alot of my buildings is abandon because of long commute. I has highway, subway, rail, and busses. And have no demand for I and C, but alot for R. And I can't see what I have done wrong?

Oh brother, this again, the number one plague for Simcity 4/RH players. 22.gif Maxis screwed up big time with this one.

chriswiller, your problem does not have to do with commute time, traffic congestion, or the like. In fact a commute time of 50 is well within the maximum of 150 minutes. There are two types of long commute:

    1. REAL long commute - means the workplace is distant, or more commonly you have too much traffic volume and congestion that slowing sims down.

If you have good average commute time plus traffic congestion in the green, you have:

    2. FALSE long commute - which essentially boils down to unemployment stemming from an imbalance in jobs and population.

So, what are your residential taxes? I bet they're low. You're generating artificial demand that makes sims move in, but then you don't have the JOBS to back it up. So the sims move out, leaving you with a mess of dilapidated buildings. Solution? Jack up your R taxes. Keep your R$$$ to at least 9.6%, R$$ at maybe 8.5-9.0%, and R$ to some reasonable value (it depends on what level of R$'s you want in your city). Then, drop your C/I taxes to generate true demand. You can even bottom it out to 0%; it ultimately depends on how much revenue you're willing to sacrifice.

To the moderators, I strongly suggest creating a pinned thread for this problem. The long commute & R$$$ dilapidation are the same apple and it plagues so much SC4 players. It's kinda tiring to explain it nearly every day... 46.gif
If no one wants to write an explanation/tutorial, I can write a comprehensive one.

Yes I think that might be a good idea. You can contact the admins on how to get it put in the Omnibus.
