Odd My Sim observation

I occasionally place Sims in my city just to see how they'll comment about conditions. In my latest city though, I've been placing a couple in low-wealth housings. They start off flipping burgers, then after a few minutes at Turtle speed, guess what? They're CEOs! I tried it several times in several areas but they all skipped the middle-class rung and quickly turned into R$$$'s. Has anyone else observed this?

Interesting. What was the education level of your city? Maybe they have invented instant teaching machines.

Yes I have. I think what happans is they find really good jobs available.  Soon they earn money to buy a better house. I what I have as jobs are the CEO or the store manager. If you really want them to be lower class residents, you should keep anything above Mid-Wealth far away from them, and force them to have a low wealth business job. Also, education can sure impact on the job level, so try to place them in a duller area(less education) Civic buildings very often pay well, like colleges are considered high-wealth jobs, schools are Mid-Wealth, Clinics and hospitals are considered High-Wealth, Police and fire Department are either Mid- or High-Wealth....

    OK, im done....

N_O_Body, I forgot their specifc education levels but it was at the range of 110-130 I think (the city average was 160). I tried this with another city with an education level of nearly 200 and observed the same; then I tried it with a R$ sim that had just moved in and had a base EQ of 40. This one didn't get promoted. I'm guessing that I was catching sims during their transition periods, i.e. when their education was high enough to enable them to get better jobs. It just struck me as odd that they were skipping the mid-wealth class entirely. One moment, one of my sims was flipping burgers, the next he was the CEO of the city museum.

Madmax410, very reasonable suggestions. However I really don't like R$'s all that much. In most of my cities, I like to keep my population predominantly R$$'s, in the range of 80% upwards. I discovered that such cities generate tax revenue easily, for example at 37-40k, you can already generate a 5000$ surplus, and this is with full education, fire and police coverage, plus all amenties such as airports, water purification plants, and the like.

Poor people being ceo's if everyone was one then who do they manage???????

    Cut the education fund...

see what happens, cause i think your forking out more than needed if your giving them top notch education.

If the teachers strike then it's obviously not that realistic
