I glued my feet to a wall and looked at the mosaic that way. The effect is relatively the same. In a moment of seriousness, the port is actually quite nice.

The Capital Club, pronounced cap PE tal, is the premiere location for those of prominent dispositions. Many an Arch Pumba can be seen walking its hallowed halls wearing nothing but a towel or a bar of soap. There is a variety of rooms such as the disco dome, the roller ball rotunda, and the lobbyist

No, no, no, not topical. It is tropical as the Pumbas live in the jungle.

Here is a chart of how the Pumbas are organized. This is a simplified overview version for clarification to show how a buck would flow. It does not include the use of the symbols of power or the committees and sub committees. The Grand Pumba is the red figure in the middle wearing the Hat of Organizational Overseeing.

Here are some transportation pictures to keep you interested. Notice that a lot of Pumbas and Workers walk or use the bus or train. The trains are quite nice with faux leather seating and soothing music.

LOL really enjoyed the flow chart; it makes you realise why civil service is always so bureaucratic! 2.gif44.gif Seems to me your sims are really smart with such a great transport network of rail and ped. areas; who wouldn't walk or take bus/train??!!!

Great to see the socio-economic and political views behind the Pumbas.

I woul'dn't want to live in a society like that though. It overvalues the position of mankind as a whole in my opinion. Take away human life and earth would just keep on turning. If you look at the history of earth we represent just the tip of your fingernail if you look at the total history being the whole body. I have a similar attitude when it comes to social-cultural aspects in human life. It is the overrating of ones-self that has led to many disputes and to all wars that this world has seen.

As humans our strenght is in our weakness; if you ask me. In general you see that the alfa-male or female in a animal social-group is dominating the rest of the group; he or she decides what happens. With humans this went the opposit way and this is essential for our development; we decided to gang up against the alfa male and so protecting the weak within the society. This is what makes us human.

But anyway I'm mumbling away here and this is not really the place to do it, is it? I just wanted to say I appreciate this CJ for all of its aspects that make it differ from all the other CJ around. Great work Dan!

Thanks, LordoftheWise, for your input. I knew Pumba society would be hard to understand for us in the modern world. You are right about humanity but miss the point of Pumba society.

Remember the Pumbas live in a jungle with rapid vegetation growth. They are constantly struggling against the jungle to keep from being completely consumed by it. So when I say they don

Okee , I think I get the idea now. Wow that sure sounds like something totally different from our society. Sort of 'borg' like (Startrek) The society is the individual self and visa versa. Spooky idea! I do agree on your insights on ego and greed. Point well made!

I wanted to avoid the comparison. The Borg have no individual identities and are all the same; similar to what communism thought would work. The Borg are have a two-part hierarchy with the authoritarian queen at the top and all others below. The Pumbas are highly specialized in a hierarchy like a body except the brain would be distributed throughout and all parts are of more or less equal value. That is why my chart of Pumba Organizational Structure does not flow from top to bottom. (Also because it is a parody of the government structures that have been showing up on Simtropolis City Journals lately.) The competency and success of a Pumba’s contribution to society defines his individual identity. Think of some primitive tribes; the government is not a separate part of a larger society; the society is the government. The Pumba society is the purest form of government for the people, by the people, of the people. (I seem to have strayed from the path of parody though.)

The Egyptians had the Black Lands which was Egypt (i.e. the whole entire world) and the Red Lands which was the desert (i.e. all other land other than Egypt.) Pumbas are similarly focused. There are Pumbas and then there are all things not Pumba (i.e. the jungle, everyone else and everything else.)
    jungle102xcopynt1.jpg
Don’t forget that what is good for society is highly subjective.

    Less talk now. More pictures.

this is a fantastically funny CJ.  the flow chart had me ROFL!  I love that kind of humor.  the city is looking really good.  I like your mosaics especially the sideways one.  I have an LCD monitor so I used the instructions to turn the monitor sideways.  very nice.

Normally when someone wants to show something tall in a dramatic way they start at the bottom and move up. That is not possible for Simtropolis so I have come up with a solution.  Remember when I had the sideways mosaic? Now I have the upside-down mosaic. The instructions are similar but not quite the same as before. You see instead of turning the computer sideways, this time turn the computer all the way upside down then the presentation will come out right. Without further adieu I present to you, my fellow Simtropians, the Obelisk of Eminent Importance accompanied by Strauss
