Night light effects on buildings not working

Howdy,

 

I downloaded and installed the second patch from Maxis, the exe called SC4Update4BAT.  This is the one I had read that I would need to make the night light effects work on the buildings downloaded from the STEX.  That program told me I needed to make sure I had the first patch installed as well, so I went searching the Simtropolis forums and figured out which one I needed, and I downloaded and installed the first patch from Maxis, the exe called UPDATE_SKU1_TO_P1_B638.   I also put the dat file called bldgprop_vol1 in my Plugins folder.  Despite all this, I still can't get night light effects to work on buildings I've downloaded from here, and I was really looking forward to seeing Deadwoods' Art Deco Hotels in all their glorious colors at night time.

 

So, what the heck am I missing???  Can anybody give a clue to the clueless here?  Much thanks in advance,

For one thing, make sure you have power running to them. Secondly...you probably will have to leave the game on day/night cyle and let it cycle through a few times before it will work.

Well, pooh, the buildings are definitely powered, but I didn't think of letting the game run for a bit since the Maxis default buildings would light automatically when I switched to night mode, but I shall give it a go and see if it works.  Thanks for the advice!

I found that I had to download SKU2 despite the official site telling me that Australia should download SKU1. You can check on the RH CD exactly which SKU update you need. Also some people have had problems with SC and RH being from different countries. Check the RH CD and see if you need a different SKU than you thought. Hope that helps.

Edit: Also you could check that the game updated to .640 I think you can find that in the C:\Program Files\Maxis folder.

Are you using a no-cd crack. I was for a while and I could not get my night lights on custom bats to come up. If you are using a no-cd crack I would be 94% sure that it is the problem. always leave a little space for error.

I appear to be affixed with the same problem. Despite the fact I have fully updated SC4 Deluxe, along with the BAT updater, the game seems to stubbornly continue to fail to light custom buildings at night regardless of the installation method or my attempts at fixing the problem (I.E Reinstalling and fully updating the game).
