Ok, I've spent the last hour looking through the Forum to find a thread that tells you where the files you download from the lovely site go.

So far I've had no luck.

ANyone willing to help me here?

By saying 'Lovely Site', I believe you mean Simtropolis.com.2.gif

All files on the STEX are .zip files. You have to extract the files in these .zip files into the 'Plugins' folder of Simcity 4. The following two paths are where you will find the 'Plugins' folder on your system.

  • My Documents\Simcity 4\Plugins
  • Program Files\Simcity 4\Plugins
Many .zip files contain a 'readme' file which mentions where you have to extract the .zip contents. If there is no readme, you can extract to any of the above mentioned folders. The choice is yours!1.gif

Hope this helped! If not, you can always PM me.48.gif

EDIT: A Warm Welcome from me too!!

You extract the download using Winzip,WinRAR etc. into your MyDocuments/SimCity4/Plugins folder OR Program Files/Maxis/SimCity4/Plugins folder and they should appear in game. If this doesn't work, the building you are trying to download must be a growable which means you have to zone some Residential, Commercial or Industrial zones and get to the required stage to make it grow OR it could be a reward which means you have to meet some requirements before you can use it in your city. If the building you downloaded comes with a ReadMe always read it as it contains useful information on how to get the building into the game. Hope this helps. 44.gif Welcome to Simtropolis! 39.gif

As I mentioned above, when there is no readme file present, you can download it to any of the below mentioned folders:

    • My Documents\Simcity 4\Plugins
    • Program Files\Simcity 4\Plugins
