There are three ways of Making Region Maps in Simcity 4 which I know of:

  1. To terraform each and every city square.
  2. To use the Landscape Designer program. You can download it here .
  3. To follow MallowTheCloud's awesome tutorial . (With which you can make Real-World Maps!)

Welcome lurker. PM me or others if you need any help.

You are doing something quite advanced so don't expect to become a expert very quickley but it's good you have high aims so good luck with that.

Welcome to the community. I am quite good at making maps.

A good map needs good amount of space to build a city on and a good amount of features, like bays, mountains, hills, rivers or coast, or even a combination of both! A good terrain could be scale-accurate of a real location (a real world map) or a well known location (like Narnia or Middle Earth). Maps that get a good rating might also be ones that exclude certain tiles which may contain nothing but vast seas. You should also take note that different terrain colours and styles can affect the appearance of the rendered region. Terrain import modds may affect the sea level of this map.

To give you an idea of a good terrain, take a look at my terrain I have uploaded onto the ST EXchange here. And the Final Fantasy 7 Planet map by lightwarriork is a good example of a top rated map, found here.

Good luck! 1.gif

If the page isn't maximised you won't see it, you have to maximise the page to see it. 2.gif

EDIT: Sorry! My mistake, I didn't copy the link right, it can be found here:
