Request: Middle School

Does anyone know/think it would be possible to build i middle school?
Just for the sake of realism, I think it would be more interesting to the game if there were one available.

Also, I can't get the GMAX, so if it is possible, I guess this is also a request as well as a question...A requestion?

I can see the reason why they did not include a middle school, or junior high school. in a lot of areas outside the US (or so I think) there is Primary school and secondary school. some places in the US (like my hometown before 1987) had a few elementary schools K-6 and a high school 7-12. now we have four elementary schools K-3, two upper elementary schools 4-5, two middle schools 6-8, and two high schools 9-12. it's a crazy world, but when I made a recreation of my town I used the large elementary school as the upper, and the high school as the middle school, leaving the large high school as the high school.

plus, I don't know what would look any different from either of the schools. my advice: change the name from _______ elementary school to ______ middle school

Welcome to Simtropolis. If you check in the STEX you'll find a middle school.  I use it all the time.

A middle school isn't really needed in terms of learning. It would just be for looks.

Below, is a bar charts I made showing how each of the school-type buildings contributes to the overall education of sims in each age category. You can see most schools overlap several age categories, although they concentrate their learning in particular age groups.

 

(Note that Simcity only starts counting people when they reach 20 years old. If you think that's wierd, then subtract 20 from each age group.)

 

Also note that I included both private schools and elementary schools as adding to the total learning in an age group. I'm not sure if a sim can get education from both schools at the same time. (That may also be the case for college and university.)

Bones, where did you get these data from?

Are the numbers on the X-axis ages, or instead percentage points?

I pulled the raw stats out of the various building exemplars.

The X-axis shows the age of the sims. (Like I said, there are no sims under 20 years old.) The Y-axis is just a scale showing the total possible learning potential; I don't think there's a game maximum for it.

Great graph Bones. It shows the influence of all the educational facilities well. The other factor is distance from the school, the further you are away from a school the less of an influence they have.

Some schools, such as the Maxis Private Schools, affect both Elementary, Middle and High school-aged Sims (see the graph). Some of the custom lots, such as my schools, work in the same way covering K-12.

It's funny.  Apparently, Sims attend high school when they're in their 40s.
