the October patch... problem

I'm new here, and I searched a few forums looking for answers, but I didn't see too much.

 

I downloaded the Octobenr 5th patch for the PC, and I got the turning lanes, new interchanges, all those capabilities.  I selected the radical custom plugin because I want the commuting accuracy, speeds, and higher capacity levels, but they don't seem to be working.  I read on the Readme it said to run your game for a little while, but seemed to be a little vague.  How do I get this function to work???  I'm dying to be able to build cities that have higher road capacities and commuter accuracy!!

never mind, i figured out that i needed to download a patch from sc's web site before i installed the nam.
