Problems With R$$$ and R$$ Population

Today when I was playing my city, I encountered this irreversible problem - although there are ample commercialjobs in the city like CS$$$ and CO$$$, many of the R$$$ houses go abandoned just months after being built. I have used the cheat lot called Plopmatic. I only know that the lot sometimes will cause the desirability to turn red because it has reached its max, but I check the desirability graph for R$$$, CO$$$ and CS$$$ and everything appears to be green. And this lot causes all demands to spike. I used it to accelerate city growth.

Is it possible that a plugin caused this problem? Or it is a problem of the game machines. And on the other hand, my originally okay cities went abandoned too when I loaded them. So I do not dare to play them anymore.

Region population is 300,000 people with 378000 commercial jobs. The jobs available obviously exceeds the population, but R$$$ keep abandoning. Small about of R$$ also get abandoned, but the R$ population stayed intact. 30.gif

Can anybody please help me on this? I will try to post a screenshot as soon as possible. All helps are greatly appreciated. Thanks! 44.gif

Well that's certainly a lot of jobs for that size population. Normally for a population of about 300 000 you would need about 150 000 jobs. However this assumes that your workforce and residential mix is balanced, and transport system is optimal.

You would also not normally be able to make a city with only commercial jobs. There will always be at least some demand for industry, and you would need to supply this before residential can continue to grow (or at least not delapidate)

Your city probably also needs a lot more R$ sims before the R$$ and R$$$ can be increased again.

I never use plop mods or demand mods, I find it virtually impossible to keep the city balanced without micro-managing. Its too easy to get the demand and supply situation all messed up. About the closest I get is the industry quadrupler.

Usually I find slow and easy is quite fast enough when it comes to city building and hurrying things too much can cause problems.

For some reasons, sims living near city borders choose to work in the neighbouring cities, even if there's plenty of jobs in their hometown. I recently had this problem, the north/west sides of my central city had development and abandonment problems (even whith a well developed buisness district and a large industrial area to the south) untill I developed some neighbouring cities to the north.

    Hope this helps.

You are probably out of balance. You should not have more than about 10% R
