Weird Problem!! Please Help!

Hello Fellow Simmers,

I am having a really weird problem with my game. There is some problem with the street-lights on my avenues. Instead of lighting up in the night, the 'ugly' brown boxes appear. I have some pictures here that will help you understand my problem.

 

In this day-time picture, I have an avenue (with street-lights) and a normal road.

When I switch to night-time mode, the road lamps light up properly but the avenue lamps show brown boxes instead of lighting up. Also those Avenue Lamps which are not lit up also do not have any problem.

Note the make of the lamp. Only the Steel ones are having this problem. The other two types viz. Wooden and Banner-Style have no problems whatsoever.

Can anyone help me out? Has anyone had this problem before? It may have been caused by some plugin I downloaded. But I can't point out to a particular one because I was downloading and installing plugins all the time, but I played Simcity 4 only today (after a good two months). All my plugins have been downloaded from this web-site, the Japanese sources (according to the Japanese BAT thread) and a German site called sc4meister.com

The brown boxes usually mean that a prop or dependency of some kind is missing.   Are you using the standard avenues that came with the game or have you downloaded a modification?  If you have downloaded something, check the readme file and see if you have downloaded everything.

i have no idea if this is the solution or not, but have you by any chance downloaded an Athens Olympic Stadium recently? i seem to remember reading somewhere there was a conflict in the dependencies with that stadium and the ingame lights which could be giving  you the brown boxes.

of course, there is also a chance i am wrong.

SkiGeek: The Avenues are the standard in-game ones. I haven't downloaded any modifications for the avenues. I have NAM though, but I don't believe that can cause the problem.

MrCinatit: And Yes, I have downloaded an Athens Olympic Stadium. I'll see if that solves my problem. Thanks for the tip.
