Question about Bridge Height

If you set the bridge height low enuf so that you get the message too low for ferries, does that mean that the bridge is too low for other water traffic, specifically the freighters that come and go from seaports?

basically if i set the bridge height to a more astheticaly pleasing height, will my seaport traffic travel under the bridge (and i dont care about the automata)

not 100% sure...but I think if it blocks ferry traffic, the other traffic may be blocked as well

only thing to be sure is try the bridge out and monitor the traffic...see if any of it does cross under the bridge...think frieght boats are just eye candy though

In any case, you should remember that, realistically, freigters will have higher superstructure than ferries.

The minimum height for harbour bridges around here is 120 ft. unless they open.

Tolomar you are quite right about freighters being just eye candy...i tried a little experiment where i put a seaport between 2 bridges, both lower then the required ferry height and the freighters crossed under them...after doing a little fiddling with the height i found a height that was both asthetically pleasing and the freighters passed under instead of through

thx for the input guys, if i run into any complications with the lower height ill let yall know

I don't think freighter ships are routed, meaning that they are just drawn in for aesthetic reasons. I'm pretty sure that each seaport in the city has a fixed impact on the demand cap relief regardless to which neighbors its waterway connects.

Well, actually, I don't think the seaports care whether the bridges are low or not. To my knowledge, the seaports export freight as long as there is a little bit of water on the edge of the map. You don't even need a continuous water route, so long as there's water on the edge of the map somewhere.
