    Lavrentij Vaslov diary, 10-03-1996:

At my 60 years birthday tomorrow, we will have an army parade in the capital Al-Ibrashna. Due to the tense situation, only a few foreign leaders will join the celebrations. Turkish Prime minister Tansu Çiller, Armenian president Levon Ter-Petrosyan, Kazakhstan’s President Nursultan Nazarbayev and Azerbaijan’s president Heydar Aliyev.

Lavrentij Vaslov at Maqbarh Quarterly Government meeting 6th of April 1996:

Things have been tough, with several situations where we had no food in our shops, especially in Fahna, resulting in strikes and a loss of loyalty amongst the locals. These things spread fast and soon all major sectors of the economy starts to crumble. I feel like we are now back on track, but urge everyone to watch the situation in their ministry and call for fast reaction, if we spot signs of dissatisfaction or mistrust. To avoid similar situations, 180 million ₽ was investment in transport trucks to get a more fluid delivery, to and from our three major warehouses. Several transport routes, sales channels and warehouse capacity systems were also adjusted.

Construction: During the latest year many important projects was completed. In the summer of 1995 a complete renovation and machinery replacement, took place at Al-Wanayem textile factories. A much larger prison was built in north Al-Ibrashna, the old demolished. Later also Fahna prison was demolished. Crime in Fahna have been an increasing issue, a large Police Station was constructed, also functioning as national police headquarters. New residential buildings were raised in both Al-Ibrashna and Fahna. Total cash reserves (April 1996) 4036 million ₽, 1981 million $.

    Total population (April 1996): Republic 18.871: Al-Ibrashna 2.616 - Fahna: 3.468 – Tall Kuban (town) 742 – Tall Kuban (army) 252

Gusarov reports to his father 11thof June 1996:

A series of smaller renovation tasks were carried out from springtime 1966. Al-Wanayes bus stop. The courthouse, a kindergarten, tennis court and the swimming pool in Al-Ibrashna. Several garbage stands, sewage tanks and sewage switches. The last of those renovations finished 11th of July. To keep up with the growing demand for renovation projects, I have bought some fast American concrete mixers, excavators and bulldozers. A relative hard blow to our $ reserve.

12th of February 1967, Lavrentij Vaslov talked about Fahna, at a family dinner in his first wife’s house in Al-Ibrashna. Present was both of his wifes, his son and daughter and some high-ranking members of the administration: “Fahna have become so dominant, drawing population, due to it being the hub for passenger train transport. Today much more important than Al-Ibrashna. I believe it no longer makes may sense to rule the country anywhere else. Gusarov, can you please make is a beautiful Government building in Fahna.”

Construction: Besides the many renovation projects, some of the larger construction projects over the latest period have been, Fahna Art Gallery, a railway tunnel through Fahna Hill and the New Fahna East residential area, at the opposite side of the tracks, with its own tennis court. A railway connection into the hilly area at the northern foot of Lower Shalakh Mountains have begun, as iron ore can be mined there. Collapse of a central power supply in Al-Ibrashna late February 1997, resulted in serious power cuts, hundreds of families was without power, but it was replaced very fast. Total cash reserves (March 1997) 5.313 million ₽, 1982 million $.

    Total population (March 1997): Republic 20.220: Al-Ibrashna 2.682 - Fahna: 3.879 – Tall Kuban (town) 815 – Tall Kuban (army) 250

Gusarov Vaslov reports to his father 13thof April 1997:

Several vehicles were worn out beyond repair and replaced. 3 large but slow busses were replaced with fast Hungarian LKR-256 busses with a capacity of 45 passenger. A covered hull was replaced with a Czechoslovakian 7-ton LZ100 and a dumper was replaced with a Russian 13-ton KMZ-5410. At a total cost of 150 million ₽.

On the construction side, two larger project was carried out over the latest more than 1 ½ year. In Fahna East, the large Fahna hospital, kinder garden and a third residential building. At the foothills of Lower Shalakh Mountains, establishment of iron production, including railroad connection, sewage, water etc. We still haven’t started the iron production. The goal is to be self-sufficient with iron, late winter or in the coming spring. Otherwise, we have updated a few roads and also had some renovation projects.

In September 1998, after a dramatic increase in illness and even deaths in Fahna, Lavrentij Vaslav appointed his daughter Dr. Lenora Vaslav, Minister of Health and safety. With responsibility of hospitals, clinics, rescue centers and sanitation services. Lenore investigated the health issues and found that most was related to lousy or at least insufficient sanitation, especially at factories in Al Diwaqin, but to some extend also in Fauna’s residential areas. Some leading bureaucrats, was offered a new job, as nightshift workers in the oil refinery or concrete factory. The sanitary service received increased fundings, to get the problems fixed. Due to the bad healthcare situation many people left Fahna, to live with family in undeveloped rural arear of Maqbarh. Some are slowly beginning to came back.

Despite the major setback due to depopulation, we have had a strong period financially, with a steady growth. Total cash reserves (January 1st 1999) 7.390 million ₽, 1861 million $.

    Total population (January 1st 1999): Republic 19.231: Fahna: 2.946 - Al-Ibrashna 2.658 - Tall Kuban (town) 832 - Tall Kuban (army) 218

An American Kokum 442 dumper was bought in June 1998, although quite slow at max 57 km/h, with a capacity of 32 ton, it is worth it.

    Lavrentij Vaslov diary, 6-12-1999:

We got the new government building ready for the coming millennium celebrations, which we will hold in the square in front of the building. Looking forward to this unforgettable day, and sincerely hope we can all celebrate peacefully together.

The railroad connection to the iron mines at Lower Shalakh Mountains is now running, but we still haven’t been able to relocate the necessary workforce to fully supply the needed amount of processed iron. We are still importing some extra iron from Armenia. Last year we imported 4097 tons of iron, this year it was 2239 ton. We hope to have completely eliminated the need for external iron over the coming year. During November and parts of December the Steel Plant at Mount Qzil was closed down due to a complete replacement of old machinery and some exterior renovation of the main building.

Other construction projects included: A new residential building in Fahna East and Fahna East bus station. A new diesel fuel station for locomotives, between Fahna and Mount Qzil. Asphalt roads to Lower Shalakh Mountains and a bus stop. A coal storage to support the steel plant and conveyor connections for truck loading of coal.
