Hello everyone,

I've bought SimCity 4 yesterday on Steam for the MacBook Pro 2018 and when I loaded up the game and started the 'getting started' tutorial, I saw that there was missing text in almost everything.

I've searched for a solution and found out that there already where a bunch off topics related to this problem on this website. However these problems only occurred on Windows and I couldn't find a topic with a solution for Mac.

I really hope someone can help me.

Thank you.

Hiya @BINKBEAR, Sorry that i'm not on Mac right now, however i thought this message means the game couldn't Locates the texts (LTEXT) from your SimCityLocale.DAT file.

this file typically could be found in SimCity 4\English(Or your Language), You may could find it out from your SC4's package, Or I'm not sure if this command could be used in MacOS as well,  find / -iname "*SimCityLocale.DAT*", you can give it a try to see if you could find this file, and then take a look at the size of this file, If you don't have it or this size is too small, I thought you could re-install the game or get it from others.

This is just my conjecture, Hope it helps.*:blush:

Sincerely,

-- Raymond

    Thank you!

    It had something to do with my Steam settings, I changed the game language and tried to re-install it. Now it works completely fine!

    Thanks again for your reply.

    You're Welcome @BINKBEAR, If i predict this correctly, since i used to play with chinese version, there are two folders with two language version (EN and CHS)of SimCityLocale.DAT, if i just delete the chinese version without modifying the registry, the game would still try to access that directory and then pops up that error message. Anyway, glad to hear about your success, Enjoy it!:}
