Mysterious SC4 exe delete or disappearance

Twice in the last few months I've had a gog.com SC4 deluxe mysteriously get deleted.  Other related files and apps, e.q. NAM, building plug-ins, etc., remain.  Probably a longshot question:  Are there any issues with Avast, Advanced System Care 12, or any Iobit application?  Can they mistake the SC4 exe for something bad?  Just wondering.  (Maybe I should avoid gog.com.)

It seems quite likely to me it is an antivirus program causing the trouble. They've gotten silly in the past few years where they flag files as potential virii and put them in quarantine (which will appear to be deleted) based solely on the fact there isn't a million of the same program floating thru the internet. It's pure bull shit IMO. I've had the same thing with Microsloth Essentials for programs I've written and complied in C myself.

I do also have the Gog version of SC4 and so far it's never been flagged. There will likely be a way to add an exclusion rule in the antivirus program. You might look into that.

Yup, there's ignore features and exclusion stuff.  You can guess that I never imagined I would need them for something so large and obvious.  But then there is so much competition for our security app dollars that overagressiveness was probably inevitable.   Thanks, CM.
