I had this idea while playing sim city last night. I was wondering is somebody could make a pizzle tile of a T-road intersection with a Railroad cross through the middle of it.  I've attcahed a picture. If somebody doesn't want to help could somebody tell me how to make it and where to start. Thanks for you help

Yes, it does exist. I've seen them a couple of times. I can't get to where one of them is to get a picture and I wasn't able to find any online.

About 2 or so miles up north of my house, there's a 4-way road intersection as a Southern Pacific line crosses it. 47.gif

Yeah there is a four way with a railroad track through it in Bartlett, TN. Good Idea although I'm afraid I can't help you.1.gif

Not sure it can be done but your best option is to ask the NAM folks. If it could be done, that's where it'd probably have to be done.
And yes, I know they do exist in real life. We have one here in Ann Arbor, MI at State Street and Stimson Road.

Believe in only what you can prove.

Possible is something like this, but there are always two pieces required, I'm sorry

That would be great, I've ran in this problem many times. Is this being worked on for the next release of the NAM?

Anywho that'd be awesome to see that ingame although not many go crazy with the rails.....Even though that is true I'd still be able to see many possibilties from this two tile puzzle peice...

Oh, it wouldn't even have to be a puzzle piece! This would just be a new draggable intersection...simple stuff like this is pretty easy.

In fact, I'll be back in a couple of minutes...2.gif

Complete! Except for texture revisions, anyway. I have to get going, so:

This looks nice, and many players would love to have every combination of networks, but I'm quite sceptical about it.

T-road intersection with a (diagonal) Railroad cross through the middle of it? Come on guys, don't complicate things, let's keep NAM as simple as possble. Don't make such rare intersections, that are to be used only in some very few occasions. Just consider the huge amount of extra work required for someone who wants to make a mod, say the Euro Road Textures Mod, he would have to patch all these intersections as well.

okay, I may be a bit off topic here but do you <ı>really>/i> think this is needed?
I was never in the USA nor in Canada but referring to european railways planners would do everything to avoid such intersections because of :
    - capacity: on a main line it would beclosed at least 15-30 min per hour(!) due to railway traffic
    and moreover because of
    - accidents: there are way less complicated and dangerous intersection that attract bad accidents like flies were attracted to a bright light in the night ...

Just the 2 cents of a railway fan and civil engineer ...

The US is the world's pot-o-gold for bad planning. Take my local road for instance: 3 traffic lights in a row and not one of them is at an intersection, they're all pedestrian crossings.

I've come across this problem many, many times in SC4... hope this gets done, doesn't even have to be part of the NAM!1.gif

Here are some slightly revised textures (I can do a complete fsh-package, if they are ok)

That is awesome. But I wouldn't be using it because I don't use ground rail much. But it is still a really cool idea. Good job. 44.gif

They look great, frimi.  But do you think I should actually use the bottom tile?  When I tested it, I just let the default diagonal rail intersection occur for the bottom half.  Of course now the top tile doesn't really match up with the deafult version anymore.

Whatever design you prefer...I could care less which one it is, as it's only a few lines different in RUL code.  I'm just glad it's an easy addition. 2.gif

    @qurlix

Ok, here we go 2.gif In the Zip are all fsh-files with all tgi-files plus the raw bmp's. The instance numbers are NAM compatibel, but you can change them, of course, if required.

Date: 1/5/2006 11:17:49 AM Author: Andreas Roth Maybe this is not the right thread; but since you're creating diagonal railroad crossings: We really need a diagonal GLR crossing, so we can 'insert' GLR tracks between two one-way roads from the side (from where they are approaching parallel to the one-ways).
Is it something like this, you are looking for ? (It's a quickN'dirty2.gif)

In general we are needs diagonal crossings.

I will post some pictures later.

frimi2: That looks like something that can be use for a GLR line in the middle of an avenue.
There some textures like that in Ground Lightrail MOD - General Discussion thread, page 37-38.

Yes, what frimi2 suggested is absolutely useful and needed. There are actually needed four puzzle pieces, ie having the GLR track exiting the middle lane diagonally from the left and the right side, as well as straight GLR track with left and right turn for the avenue. These (together with the combo avenue+GLR network) would make-up a complete set.
