Hi,

I recently used the hole digger thingy to lower the terrain, so I could use the ploppable water mod, to simulate an intercity waterflow.
The lowering of the terrain, and the adding of the ploppable water is no problem;

Bu when I try to add a bridge that crosses this water, the system always lifts the ground, lets the ploppable water dissapear, and places no bridge.

Is it possible to add a bridge over the ploppable water by using the normal road system, or by using the NAM??
Or do I have to install some mod for this??

Hey, try using the Bridge Height Mod by joerg.

the problem is not changing the altitude of the bridge, but getting the bridge in the first place.

The system does not draw the bridge, but instead raises the land below, to make a normal road...

There are a couple of threads on this topic that can show you how to do what you want. You'll have to search the forums to find it. Try using plop or water as keywords. You can start with this thread.

    https://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/view.asp?topicID=67561&forumID=42&search=1&searchstring =

Also, to get the bridge over land, you'll need the rain mod. It works pretty well but keep in mind, SC4 will not let you build anything under the bridge. If you play with the ploppable water pieces, you can get the prop to extend under the bridge giving the impression that the water flows under it.
    Have fun.

Believe in only what you can prove.

You can get proper Maxis bridges over dry land if you use the rain mod ( http://www.teirusu.com/ ). It takes a bit of patience but the effect is worth it.

But you can not have any roads going under bridge made this way.
The water will be gone next time you open the game.

    Hi, patcherke.

I would suggest you read through the below thread:

Plopable Water -- Examples and Continued Development

I really believe this will give you some good information on what you're looking to do.

In the very middle of the river, canal or whatever your building, lower the terrain some more, right where you want the bridge.  Then when you drag the road across it will give you the bridge option.  Right now the bottom of whatever your building is too flat and smooth.  The road tool thinks it's a hill and responds accordingly.  I use the major mode terrain tool for lowering it (small footprint) and it works well for me.  Hope this helps.  10.gif

when using the NAM, I can succeed a bridge by placing 2 on-slope- puzzle pieces at the slope on each side, and between it some road over land puzzle pieces.

But after that I cannot add ploppable water under the bridge. It looks like the water has been broken up under the bridge.
(And I cannot place it again)

But maybe Samflash has a point with his lower terrain hint.

I'll try it out later ...

    (to be continued)

thanks anyway for the advice ...

Hi there! Maybe the following tip will help you. I've read this tip in a tutorial, but I can't remember who did it. So my sincere apologies for not being able to quote the creator of the tutorial.

Firstly, you'll have to go from Mayor Mode (after you established the city) to God Mode. This can be done by simultaneously pressing the Ctrl-Shift-Alt keys and click the on the top-left button on the city dashboard. After that, you move on the the terraforming option and click raise the entire city's ground.

After that, revert back to Mayor Mode, then use smoncire's Hole Digging Lots , place pieces of sunken lots alternately in a straight line, as shown below:

    S:sunken lots
    L:normal ground

    LLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL
    LSLSLSLSLSLSLSLSLSLSLSLSLSLSLSLSLSLSL
    LLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL

By dragging a road across all the sunken lots, you will create a one tile wide sunken ground. After you've obtained the sunked ground, try to sink the ground another time by using the same technique. You can determine the width of the sunken ground by using a certain number of sunken lots placed along with each other:

    LLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL
    LSLSLSLSLSLSLSLSLSLSLSLSLSLSLSLSLSLSL
    LSLSLSLSLSLSLSLSLSLSLSLSLSLSLSLSLSLSL
    LSLSLSLSLSLSLSLSLSLSLSLSLSLSLSLSLSLSL
    LLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL

A three tile wide sunken ground. Do it another time, as stated above, to increase it's depth. Sometimes you can't drag a road on the because if you drag it it'll touch the water surface. You can further manipulate this trick to create a canal with desired width.

After that, revert back to God Mode, the lower the entire city's terrain. To a certain point the sunken grounds will become perfect canals! 19.gif

Then use the recommended Bridge Height Mod by joerg. Drag a road across the canal, and a flat bridge will appear. Tada! 31.gif

    Hope this really helps 2.gif

lowering the terrain a second time with the hole digger lot does not help.

(maybe I'm to close already to sea level?? Will try to do it later on a higher altitude...)

it is not neccessary to add a hole line of hole digger lots also, just one is enough, and after that you can use the terraforming trick (with the single tile patches of road) to sink the rest of the land. Must say however that that costs a lot more time ...

Like Samflash said : lowering the terrain  by lowering the land under it, helps, but only if I let it sink under sealevel (i.e. create a short patch of natural water)

Placing the bridge like Jeronij says, also helps.

But in both cases I cannot add the ploppable water underneath the bridge.

However, by going as near as possible, and by adding some rocks and stuff I was able to simulate as if the water runs under it ...
    (I've beaten the system in a way ...29.gif )

    Any more tips are welcome...

    Hello, patcherke.

At the risk of repeating myself (or, at least, my previous post), I would STRONGLY suggest you read through the following thread:

Plopable Water - Examples and Continued Development

Especially the mini-tutorial I wrote in Post 9/1/2005 7:24:48 AM.

I really believe this will help you in what you are trying to accomplish.

    Regards,

    Hi Vandy,

    You're completely right.

next time I'll go into God mode to adjust the steepness, and use the rain mod to place the bridge.

But that does not (at least I think) solve the fact that the ploppable water right under the bridge, sometimes is not complete, just because of the bridge.
But this minor problem is solvable (like I mentioned above) by using rocks and stuff...

But thanks for the hints concerning the rain mod.
(I sent a copy of your tutorial to home, so I can try it out myself)
