What makes the expansion pack better for the game?

I am finally getting sim city 4000, i want to know all i need for unlimited gameplay. Can anyone help out? Why do i need the expansion pack, what does it provide for the game?

Also a side note, i like the challenge, but i love the creation, i always play just to make a city and run it, See how it looks, if it looks the way i figured, so i cheat. Like i said the challenge is not the main reason for me. On simcity3000 there was a cheat for all landmarks, you had a certain way to get that cheat, is it the same way on sim city 4000?

Also how can i use the bat files i download into the game?

the expansion pack makes the game 10 times better. it adds new transit network, also it supports BATs you can download from this site, and also the network addon mod. i dont think they sell the expansion seperate anymore, so youll probably have to get simcity 4 deluxe edition (it the same but with both games). i wouldnt play the game without the features in the expansion. When you have rush hour (or most likely deluxe edtion) you will have to put the files you download from the the STEX in (usually my documents/simcity 4/plugins). welcome to simtropolis! and my 1400th post!

Getting SimCity 4: Rush Hour Expansion Pack would allow you to build avenues and you can participate in missions. The expansio pack is devoted to Transport and Travel.

There is no cheat similar to SimCity 3000 regarding Landmarks, but, but there is a modd availible here which may be similar to the cheat.

SC4 with Rush Hour does so much to enhance gameplay. Firstly, you can download whatever you want on this website because without RH, you will only get a big brown box with most downloads. Just extract the files using WinZip,WinRAR etc. into your MyDocuments/SimCity4/Plugins folder OR Program Files/SimCity4/Plugins folder and they should appear in the game but as I said without RH you will only get a Big Brown Box when you place it in game.

I guess most of the people around here have Rush Hour (or the Deluxe version). This itself is no reason to buy it of course. But I do think that the plain SC4 is boring. And as others mentioned above, the additional transit networks, a U-Drive-it mode, the Route-Query tool and the ability to use custom content is well worth it.

my question is why this is an issue. Its been a long time since ive seen simcity 4 vanilla for sale in stores, now only the deluxe pack or smaller dvd box marked as simcity 4 but including rh aswell are available. Even if you see sc4 vannilla for 9.95 and think your getting a better deal since plus rh it will only come to be 30 bucks which is 10 less than deluxe in some cases, i would advise against this, since you wont be able to find rh undbundled in many cases now too.

Not sure if this is widespread like i think it is, but i know that what im saying goes for target, walmart, circuit city, best buy, fry's, and all the little places i've been lately.

Another thing is, that if you got Rush Hour, the expansion pack contains several bug fixes for Sc4 Vanilla, but a small amount of bugs are still left in there, and I must say I don't notices them really anymore...

Does the deluxe version have the bugs or is it just when installing the expansion pack?

I believe the bug occurs in both of them since the expansion is in the deluxe after all.
