SC4 Steam verison crashes

I just got the steam version of SC4 on my Macbook but with the mods installed, it loads up to when the city itself loads up. What's going on?!

What does it do without plugins?

You should also be careful when you're installing mods and other custom content, do it step by step, install a bit, then load the game, does it work? Okay, continue.
