This is my first City Journal so I hope you enjoy it.

Initiado is a quaint town in Finland set on a quiet sound in which echoes are heard in the great fireworks display every year. Famous for its sun and its quiet neighbourhoods for those taking a break from London, Initiado was founded in 200 by Mayor John Forman who chose the name as he wanted to initiate a type of city building that looked after nature and the people of the neighbourhoods.

This is Initiado after 5 years in 2005. Currently only black and white film is available because of the isolation of Initiado

Here is the satellite suburb of Initiado cut off from the CBD.

The town looks quite nice. 48.gif Two tips - one would be to turn off the grid lines (just hit g on the keyboard before you take your photos). The other thing is that I have no idea why your file sizes are so large - they're jpegs, and black-and-white ones to boot, so it's strange they're over 300 kb. 47.gif

It's quite interesting to see someone building on hills; I used to do that all the time but I got annoyed by the lots that the game flattened.  The exposed foundations look OK on smooth, light inclines, but when you have the heavy slopes (like you do) watch out!

If I were you, I'd delete all the houses with the flattened lots.

I also used to build on hills alot but the steep slopes always gave me problems with roads. I would eventually get frustrated when the winding road to the bottom of the hill would tripple the commute time. The problem with the flattening lots was also very annoying.

I love the city. It has a realistic look to it which is harder to acheive with simcity.

I will continue using the flattened lots for now so try to ignore them because eventually I will make a MOD which will get rid of the flattening of those lots completely so all lots will follow the slide of the hill.

The pics are resized photos so that may explain their size.

    Update soon!!!

Progress in Initiado has been reasonably slow as land is hard to come by and commute continues to be a problem. Mayor John Forman continues to work at it, installing a new underground system which still fails to pick up enough passengers as the ferries do and looks likely to be decommisioned to special events only. Another failed project is likely to hit the attic of the mayor's house where he now works as no City Hall is going to be built in the near future.

Population: 7,766 (up 2,500 since last update)
    Bank: Good 2,200 surplus.
    Year: 2033!!

The second suburb to be built, as shown in last 10-yearly update, has now been named Vine Hills as a growing wine industry prevails the sidelines of the suburb's hills. Likely to be a popular spot for wining and dining, the region's tourism business is starting to position itself among the height of the most illustrious spots of Finland and becoming a member of the Elite League of Simolean guzzlers in the Lion's halls. A must see in a visit to the town, Vine Hills.

CDB is continuing to grow with pollution down 70%, a true testament to the mayor's taxing abilities which all the citizens dearly love, especially low-wealth ones. Commercial activity is growing and business confidence is up 50%. A whole new block has been added for development as manufacturing industry and high-tech eases off the CBD with Dirty industry now knocked for 6 and gone!.

    The CBD.

An overview of the whole town shows the great position the citizens of Initiado are in with 4 sounds, two which have not yet been settled. Growth is good and the town is staying true to its founding traditions.

Enjoy and please come back again!! (and comment 1.gif )

    Nuclear Disaster!!

Due to over use and age of the Initiado initial nuclear power plant a meltdown has occurred and an DNEZ or Do Not Enter Zone has been set up outlined by the Initiado Ring Road. This signifies a point of no return and anyone who goes into that area will face consequences to be decided by the Initiado Courthouse currently in a house in Vine Hills. Expulsion from Initiado is likely.

We apologise for the disaster and a memorial service is occuring at Vine Hills cemetery for the dead. This is a disaster which will not happen again in Initiado or hopefully in the regions of Finland. Any inconvenience caused will be subsidised by the ICC or Initiado City Council.

A picture of the DNEZ and the new nuclear power plant now run by computers in the area.

On a nicer note. The Aquada has hit the Initiado shores and decreased commute times by a half. The direct route given as shown below helps commuters emmensely and the ICC is installing new seadocks for Aquada's transition from land to sea with the click of a button so each commuter can enjoy the comfort of their own car

Finally, a new building embraces the skyline of Initiado. Designed by GM Productions this is a commericial building called Corporation Plaza and sets the Initiado architectural scene with a contemporary design commisioned by National Bank.

A sight to be enjoyed for generations and it shows the direction of Initiado.
