Some downloads from STEX aren't completed

Hello folks,

I did try to refrain from opening one more thread in this part of the forum but I couldn't find any answer to this question:

Why can I not complete to download some files like FishmanBeta and trunite windows by SimFox? They seem to be downloaded but when I look at the file, it is always 64 KB and gives me the warning "Unexpected end of archive" which means a broken file organization due to the download process apparently being cut off. I tried Google Chrome and Mozilla. How can I fix this?

Please these files are essential for me as I have just entered the BATting world and seeking more help from technical staff and experienced players from the community.

Best,

frukox

This has to do with your connection speed and the response time of your ISP.  On a very slow line, the ISP will see the transfer as completed when it is only paused.  What is your line speed?  Where are you in the world?

It sounds like you are getting only the first section of each file.

It could also be due to a problem with your firewall or virus scanner.  Be sure Simtropolis is on your whitelist.

There's an ad that often comes up when you follow external links from ST that advertises this program called "Open Download Manager," which claims to speed up your downloads. Out of curiosity I googled it and found that it is like malware: it speeds up your downloads by not downloading the whole file. You're going to have to google how to fix this, and if you need to download a utility to help you remove this program, you'll have to use another computer to download it and then transfer it to the affected computer using a flash drive or some other removable storage media.

Is that what is happening?  I don't think the OP mentioned that program.

A Nonny Moose and compdude787, I found out that my antimalware and antivirus programs blocked me then. I disabled them and the files were downloaded correctly. Thanks a lot, really appreciated it! :thumb:

    You are great, guys! :)
