Having trouble using maps

Hi everyone,

 

I am new to using mods and I am trying to use some of the maps offered on Simtropolis but I never seem to get any of them to work. I read the instructions but maybe I am missing a step. I typically download the map, then open it with express zip. Next I take the folder and the files and place them in the regions folder. Next I start the game and select 'create new region' and then press the 'create region' button. Some of the time it does nothing and other times I get an error message that the dimensions are two large 1537x1537 instead of 961x961. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks
