The 1024 road limit crash. I have ran into this limit a couple of times and got the dreaded crash.

Skystorm was talking about this in a the video below and he gives a method to get more roads out of the limit. He says small road sections counts as more segments. So when drawing a road it's best to draw them in longer segments instead of shorter segments and that allows you to place more roads that way, is that right? Drawing a long udon highway accross the map like this could also save road limits also. Only problem with this is once you start drawing longer segments out of the 2k boundry you get the z axis road glitch so you kinda have to draw small segments in that circumstance to stop the z axis gltiches.

Also I wondered is this hardcoded into the game and is there a possible way to double roads placable to a # like 2048 limit through modding?

I think you're confused over the segments. The game doesn't care if it takes you 15 thousand tries to draw a highway, as long as you've used the same road type, and not create any intersections, it's still one segment.

Freeways don't HAVE to be drawn all at once. It only matters if the NETWORK is the same. If you draw a medium density road, stop drawing it, then continue off of the same segment, it's still one segment!

KEY IDEA: If you create an intersection, you've created an additional road segment which can be found out by trying to upgrade it.

BTW, the 1024 limit is an engine feature. We work WITH the engine. We don't MESS with the engine. Even if we would, we COULDN'T. Maxis would need to modify a value for us, and Xoxide tried to ask before.

Ok calm down Citycrafted.. You sound so hostile but I know your not lol. Maybe it was the bold print was looking like caps lock sorta. There was no reason to quote my post right above it also.

Skystorm said that if you draw roads in small segments it takes up more 1024 road count, more then roads drawn in long segments.

Is this fact? Maybe xoxide can come in here and verify this. Nevermind, I believe you. Sounds like you have had this discussion with him in the past. Alright then. Nevermind. Asking maxis to release this would be like asking DICE to release a map making tool.
